Aggies need to keep Jimbo because with their money, if they had a real coach, it wouldn’t be good

It seems almost like the HS football coaches run that state. ... FTR I think this has a lot to do with how Mack Brown lost traction at UT.
I have actually heard a super interesting theory on Mack Brown's downfall, and it sort of plays into your point about the power some TX HS coaches have. Basically the gist of it was that he was a victim of his own success, and a victim of the (good) relationship he had with the TX HS coaches. He was in a position to basically pick and choose whichever TX recruits he wanted. So he would come in at the beginning of the cycle, and load up all the kids who were at the top at that point in the cycle--and then he'd be done. As a result, he started consistently miss every single late bloomer and getting stuck with guys who didn't develop much. He either felt he couldn't or didn't want to risk ruining those relationships he'd built with the important HS coaches, so he never waited around to continue evaluating as the cycle progressed.

TAM just sucks all the way around and so does Jimbo Fishbate. I thanks the LSU Gods, that we did not hire this idiot. So glad we have BK, we are lucky to have him.
Beat State !

Take away Johnny Manzeil and Sumlin would have had a very tough time of it.

Consider this, Sumlin took over a team the had gone 7-6 (4-5 Big 12) and in his first year in the SEC went 11-2(6-2) losing only to LSU and Florida (both ranked) and handing ALabama it's only loss that year. That was his best season.
Jimbo took over for a Sumlin team that had gone 7-6(4-4) and promptly went 9-4(5-3) by virtue (IMO) of some pretty badly blown calls in the LSU game. And that has been his best non-covid season. That Covid season really helped Jimbo's numbers out.
Sumlin
2012 11–2 6–2
2013 9–4 4–4
2014 8–5 3–5
2015 8–5 4–4
2016 8–5 4–4
2017 7–5 4–4
Overall 51–26 25–23
Jimbo
2018 9–4 5–3
2019 8–5 4–4
2020 9–1 8–1
2021 8–4 4–4
2022 1–1 0–0
Overall 35–15 21–12

I dont know why everyone acts like a team full of true freshmen, 5 stars or not is going to win a championship
Go look at his previous 3 classes. Number 1,3, and 5. He has plenty of talent stacked up.

Jimbo had success b/c he was in the ACC when they were the lone wolf. No different than Clemson during their run. Watch how the ACC will shift over next 2-3 years with them.
