I think most were busts. Transferred etc. I think one panned out for us.

Dunn and Franklin both came out the same year. Both were 5A LA State Champions in various track events. Franklin was on the LSU 4x100m relay team that won a NC, so, yeah, he was fast. Most thought Franklin was the better RB, coming out of HS. Dunn was QB/DB and recruited as a DB to FSU. He only got moved to RB bc of injuries before his freshman season

I called that radio station and said LSU was going to win the game. The DJ put me on the air to torment me. Hr said pigs would fly if LSU won. We did. He printed T-shirts snd mailed me some, we sort of had a bet. I can take a photo but I don’t know how to upload it.

Davis was a big recruit because he picked us over Bama. Didn’t last long though.

Nobody thought Franklin was the better prospect though and Dunn was always the prize. FSU was going to take care of his family with what happened to his mom.

I was a junior on the team and admittedly, didn't follow recruiting nationally at the time. From the inside, there seemed to be more hype around Franklin, though I personally thought Dunn was the better athlete. Guess it depends on who you asked. Both were All-Americans. Franklin was Parade All-American, Dunn was Gatorade All-American, if I recall.

I don’t know what happened with Davis after 92 but he ended up at UAB. Moore transferred to Ole Miss after a year or two. Johnson either got kicked off the team or had grade issues and ended up at Grambling after 93.
Butler was moved to DB but he and Toomer both finished their careers at LSU.

Do yall have the 1990 and 1989 classes? That is when Archer started the failing?

I watched Jermaine sharp race Boo in the parking lot at Power hall in the fall of 93. Sharp cooked him. He later left for southern I believe.

David Butler was the best…the rest weren’t very good except for Johnson but he couldn’t stay out of trouble.

Can't say much about his playing, but he was (and I assume still is) a good guy
Good neighbor, and fun to be around

Archer took over before the 87 season. That was one of our best teams ever. That was when the decline started because Arnsparger’s recruiting was gone.

Could have sworn he was from Hoboken , NJ!
Crazy to think 3 years prior he was dropping Hans Gruber off the roof of Nakatomi Tower!
