LSU recruiting Seaton is what I think.

OK and all..but what does this have to do with Lsu recruiting?
Cristobal is an OL guy and that helps Miami for Seaton. Yes we know about money angles for everyone

Even that rumor could help us.

I think it’s safe to assume that he sees he’s done all he could at Miami and he’s gone.
Clearly a pro guy anyways.
Not made for college.

How much was Tonkin making? Cristobal would be nuts to not take that gig if offered. That franchise will stick with a coach MUCH longer than most other organizations. Saban’s stint with Miami is a completely different story.

If he were a smart man with long term goals, he would stay put at Miami and ride out his career instead of going to the Not For Long league.

For those saying Saban coaching tree is told not to go to pros because of his experience, the new CFB is ten times worse than the NFL now. These kids are even more entitled than the pros and have no loyalty. They can bolt whenever, pros have to abide by their contracts; they can’t just say, I’m out and still get paid.
I think you start to see a lot of college coaches considering the jump because of the headache NIL, free transfers and revenue sharing have done to college sports.

“20 years to figure it out”?
Last 3 Steeler Head Coaches:
Chuck Noll - won SB in his 6th season as head coach and 3 more in next 5 years.
Bill Cowher - “NFL Coach of the Year” his 1st season as head coach; won SB in year 14
Mike Tomlin - won SB his 2nd year as head coach the Steelers. During his 19 seasons as head coach, Tomlin never finished with a losing record, the longest streak in NFL history.

Mario makes about 9.3 milllion a year. Will get a significant raise to stay.

NFL has 32 teams, College FBS has 136 teams. You have to not only be successful in NFL but for some organizations, you have to be elite. Look at the Bills. There are some instances where really good college coaches translate to good coordinators, but not many make the HC jump successful.

In case you haven't been paying attention for the last few decades, college football has, and is moresoe, becoming a Not For Long league as well. Hell, look no further than LSU. O wins a NC with the greatest team in history...1.5 later he's fired. Kelly signed a huge contract. He got fired before the end of year 4. Plus, the Steelers are the very clear exception to the "NFL" rule. Including Tomlin, they've only had 3 coaches over the span of 56 years!
Better job security used to be the biggest "pro" of a college job. That's not the case anymore. With job security lessening, the college job is probably WORSE than an NFL job. NFL HCs at least get an offseason. College coaches don't because of recruiting. Plus, they now have to deal with a revolving door of players and constant leveraging because the CFB market is largely unregulated.

Those hundreds of Miami fans would be hugely disappointed

I’d be shocked if he left Miami
I just cant figure out why Pittsburgh would have any interest. Mario has been panned (rightfully so) for his game day coaching. His major attribute as a college football coach is his ability to recruit and accumulate top flight talent.. In a sport with actual contracts which restrict movement and a salary cap like the NFL, his one big plus is severely limited. Why Pittsburgh would be interested is a mystery to me.

He would be crazy not to consider it. That’s probably the most stable job in professional sports. The coaches literally never get fired.

In my relatively uniformed opinion, it seems like to Steelers like tough, gritty coaches like Cristobal.

Cristobal routinely makes idiotic decisions that cost him teams games. But he did have a good year
