He’s getting drafted and signing. No one was expecting him to be on next year’s roster

That’s what I thought.

But very odd to shite on LSU on the way to the pros.

I thought he’d just enter the draft. He’d probably go in the top 3-5 rounds.

He was money for us in postseason play, but disappointing on most other occasions… even against low level competition.

I really thought he’d get it together after the 2023 Omaha performance, but it just didn’t work out. If he played as well as he was able, we probably would’ve hosted a regional, which could’ve made a big difference for us.

Baseball is not like football, you don't have to enter the draft. Any player eligible can be drafted.

Just a backup plan. But yet another disappointing example of a player regressing

You don't miss an opportunity to be negative do you?

Hurd pitched best when it mattered most. That was at the end of both seasons. I'll take that all day. He was key in winning a Championship here.

This means literally nothing, he is getting drafted in Top 5 rounds and will sign.

Hopefully he can learn to harness his stuff because when he's good he can be pretty special

Hey, my brother in Christ. If you need help just ask. Some of us care, regardless of what you post here.
Try to relax. LSU baseball is just a sport. Get a grip on your life first.

So why is he in the portal? Can't get drafted while at a school?

He's in the portal to keep all his options open in case the draft fell through for him. If he returns to school anywhere though he'll have no leverage and have to sign for peanuts next year so that's extremely unlikely. He's a Top 5 round type of talent in the draft which will be a lot of money for him.

Yea kinda odd no one has figured that part out yet.

So he’s in the portal to get drafted. Hmmm.

Maybe it’s to leverage LSU if he doesn’t get drafted high enough? Thus the “do not contact” tag.
I’m not good at this portal shite so maybe someone else can answer the reason to be in the portal, with the tag, looking to get drafted.

Everyone is making this way too complicated. He is going pro.

He needs to obtain as much leverage as possible. If he has a new school to "commit" to before the draft, or even just is in the portal he probably obtains a little more asking price option than if he was just a sitting player on his current team. The no contact tag makes it likely he never fake commits to a new school.

This is a $ play. And it's smart

Thank you for 2023 Thatch. Go get that bag,

He entered the portal as a no contact, so I assume he knows where he’s going if he doesn’t sign an MLB contract. I wonder if he’ll head to UGA if he’s not drafted?

I doubt he has another destination lined up, this is more to me a "I dont want to talk to anyone unless I have to" situation. In a couple weeks he'll know if he has to talk to other college teams or not. Right now he has to be 100% focused on the draft.

That chance is probably 1% or less though, if he returns to college he has zero leverage next year which means he signs for WAY less money than this year.

I think the do not contact part is more of a I don’t want coaches bombarding me the next few weeks.
