NIL quickly spiraling out of control. I don't know how anyone is supposed to compete with this, but LSU better find out and quickly.

Don't forget that every kid who is a member of the UT football team will receive $100,000 per year, even walk-ons

That $50,000 deal is a separate NIL contract specifically for OL. RB, WR, QB, LB, DB, ST players will also soon have their NIL deals released

How does $10M cover that past Year 1?

$10M NIL fund

the $100,000 per player is the number being mentioned by people close to the program. I know someone who was part of the 2005 NC team and that was exact $$ figure he shared with me

the $10M was a single donor's contribution. 1 person coughed up that check. The goal is to have a $300M NIL endowment specifically for ALL UT athletes. UT football is starving to win another NC before A&M. I have no doubt the financial goals set will be achieved by business donors with tax write off money.

You can bet that A&M is creating their own NIL fund to "out compete" Texas for athletes.

$300M would be insane. I guess that's conceivable for UT but hard to imagine for anyone else, except for say A&M

For context, that amount is basically in the same zip code for LSU's entire endowment, sadly enough

$300,000,000 is insane to us in Louisiana but is nothing when compared to Texas money.

A&M is raking in and spending crazy money on sports. The 2015 Kyle Field renovation/expansion costs $485,000,000. Just last year, their Board of Regents approved $210,000,000 to update other football & sports related facilities.

Here's a crazy A&M financial statistic. From 2012 to 2021 (9 years), former students, alumni, corporations, and anonymous givers donated $4.25 BILLION to the A&M higher education campaign. Since joining the SEC and Manziel winning the Heisman, no telling how much money was donated specifically for the sports programs.

FWIW, The LSU System had an endowment of $955 million in 2020.

Since NIL is now legal, nobody will outspend Texas or A&M. Yale and Harvard have larger endowments, but they don't care about sports. Vanderbilt has as much money as the Texas schools but like the Ivey League schools, they don't spend it on sports.

The NIL is the worst thing to happen to LSU because we are Louisiana. Our economy/businesses don’t hold a candle to Texas, Alabama, Florida, California and the list can continue. I also believe that this will cause more die hard fans to become casual fans for the sport because what made college football so great is all but dead now. With no way to regulate the NIL deals, this is going to get ridiculous, fast.
Another thing this will create is a lot of bad habits for kids. These “athletes” will be getting boat loads of money and the sharks will be around all of them to get a piece of it. You’re also giving a 17-20 year old boat loads of money, most of which have no idea how to manage it, and we expect everything will be ok??? Hell, they’re 5-7 figures and being cut loose in party environments. What could possibly go wrong???
I know these kids were paid before NIL deals and I’m not naive to that. However, it’s different now that it’s out in the open because now it’s going to snowball.

If I'm not mistaken, it was reported yesterday that the $50k was IN ADDITION TO the $100k per player.

This shite is going to ruin what we all love about college football. I’m not ok with giving kids this much money to just throw away on materialistic bullshite that takes their head out of the game. Maybe make them save a percentage of it that they can only receive after they graduate.

NIL is so blatantly unfair I don’t see it lasting very long. Cooler heads must prevail. Deep pocket schools will destroy college football.
