I know people will frown on his height, but he is a high motor kid that has all the intangibles you look for in a football player. He played DE, LB, FB, and RB for the Bearcats this year. He is clearly one of the top 5 defensive players in Louisiana. Some say he isn't built for LSU, but he will do whatever it takes to put his team in a position to win.

6' | 230 | 4.6/40

Take a look at his highlight film and let me know what you think.

Excels at rushing up the field, but is not build to be a DE. Has powerful legs, plays hard nose football, and packs a punch when he hits. I would need to see his shuttle speed to tell if he has elite lateral quickness for a LB spot, but that is what his body is built for, either that or a FB spot in a Les Miles style offense.

Love his tenacity, has a good nose for the football, and when he hits people they always go backwards. Perhaps he could play a linebacker position where he mostly crashes the line of scrimmage either to rush the passer or on a run blitz.

Much more impressive film than the last post, I could see him at a P5 school depending on his improvement in his shuttle. I would have him work on that, and get in camps. Best of luck.

He doesn't want to play DE in college.. He wants to play LB. We had to ask the coach to let him play the LB spot more and when he did, he made an immediate impact. When he played LB in the WM game, they didn't know which to run the ball. When he lines up on either end, they run away from him.

Thank you for your analogy!!!

His position at the next level is absolutely LB. His film is harder to evaluate as a LB because in highschool, kids his size play on the DL. It isnt his fault, but there is no doubt in my mind his future is at LB.

He could just as easily be a FB imo. Best pure football player in the state imo

Based on the description in the OP (admittedly, I didn't watch the film), he seems like a prime fullback candidate.

Kid is def a LB. And I think he can play at the P5 level. Get him in camps. Height isn’t as important as a durable build and a powerful lower body which it looks like he has.

I know nothing on evaluating talent but the young man can lay some lumber. Good luck to him.

This kid is a monster at LB. Ruston schemed to keep him clean and just let him roam from sideline to sideline. You’d tempo him and get him gassed but he’d still be making plays. He’s not good enough to take up one of our 25 schollies but I could see him walking on and contributing by his senior year. He’ll end up somewhere though on scholarship and end up pretty good.

I don't pay a lot of attention to down votes because there are so many that troll and down play talented young men. Tahj is a great kid and if you knew his story you would understand more about him. His dad still owns the single game record for tackles at ULM (NLU) when he was only a freshman.

Isn't Devin White the same size? Also from the same area, sure is worth a look.

Tahj Samuel has committed to McNeese over the weekend. We will see if it sticks.

WTF is LaTech doing not offering this kid? I'm just assuming they haven't, because if he's going to McNeese over LaTech then the question becomes WTF is Tahj thinking. Does OP/Anyone know his offer list?

He’s a player. Very high motor guy that doesn’t come off the field much at all. He’s not 6’ unless he hit a growth spurt. Should be a multiple year starter/future captain for McNeese State. Never heard a bad word spoken about the kid.

When people wonder how programs like Wisconsin or Central Florida have such success with lower ranked recruiting classes, they sign a lot of this type of player. (and the short DT in the other thread).

Some people are just solid college players, but perhaps not NFL prospects.

I'm not advocating signing a team full of these, but filling in a gap or two with these guys would be fine.
