I always hesitate to feel good about western kids until they put their name on the paper.

I feel confident we land Ika. Young and Handy are both also squarely in the mix. We land Ika and Young and land who we are expecting for 2020, and we'll be doing just fine with or without Ish

Ika is visiting Florida this weekend.

That’s great news. He was suppose to be visiting Bama. I’m assuming he was given a call from bama and his precious offered spot isn’t available now.

If the demand is "give my brother a scholarship or I'm not coming", the why is Alabama even still in the conversation? They sure as hell aren't giving his brother a scholarship.
It’s not a demand. It’s an angle we’re trying to use to get him on campus.

Very much agree. As one other poster said, I’d take Ika and any one of Handy, Young, Pickering, Stripling, or Moore. I wish we could start to get a solid foundation with some Mississippi guys. I know we got Brennan and Cole Smith but it would be tough to go 0 for this year.

It was that way, then Ish went off the rails after his state title game talking about playing with his brother once again. Definitely seemed like "if you dont offer you dont have a chance", although again, I think this is all just a big distraction from his side.

Agreed. Especially with Oregon selling out for him.

While I agree with you I feel like it’s a pretty tall task.

I also can’t help but think about what Orgeron said after the 2016 game against Bama how Cam Robinson should be playing for LSU and we have to win the battles in our state and this last year with him brining up how we have to get better lineman.

It sucks to lose these monster recruits but it especially hurts to lose to Bama.

Do you think Byron is a class casualty or do you think Bama wants to keep him and we’re going to straight up try to flip him? I can’t remeber the last kid we flipped from Bama.

I didn’t hear him after the game. I know one guy that has connections to the Amite program and he’s told me on more than one occasion that he thinks they’ll end up at the same place, extremely close brothers.

With that said I heard the same thing about Tony Brown and his sister before he went to Bama and how Marvin wilson wanted to stay close to his disabled brother before he went to FSU.

You just honest to god never know with highschool kids.

So we have a chance to flip Young and Williams from bama?

I’m going down the list of guys and it’s looking like most of these ships have sailed.

I don't think the "other talent" necessarily has to be another DT. I'd hate to see LSU miss out on a much better player at another position simply because they were desperate to sign a guy that for all intents and purposes costs them two scholarships.

Maybe I'm completely wrong on this, but it appears to me that Orgeron is more concerned with the negative perception it would cause if Alabama takes a highly ranked LA player than whether or not it is actually worth it to give up two scholarships for said player.

To me, if his price tag for LSU is much greater than the price tag for Alabama, then that tells you where he really wants to be. And for a prospect whose biggest concern is motivation (or lack thereof) do you really want him if he really doesn't want to be with you? All so you can say that you beat Alabama in a heated recruiting battle, one that cost you a valuable scholarship on a guy (the brother) who appears to be a complete non-contributor?

IMO, the absolute WORST thing LSU could do in this situation is turn away a good player because they were holding a scholarship for the brother ONLY to then have Ish go somewhere anyway, leaving LSU holding two empty scholarships.

I'm not as sold on this. That doesn't mean Ish is coming, but our depth chart and signee list isn't exactly loaded on the DL.

So is LSU going to pull a bait and switch and revoke the offer to the brother if Ish signs?

It doesn't appear that Alabama has to use that same angle to get him on campus. Which kind of tells you all you need to know.

Said it in another thread, but I would be very shocked if Ika did not end up at Oregon

While I am not necessarily against taking Rodney Sopsher, I am always reminded of something a coach told me a long time ago about recruiting:

"It's not the ones you lose that kill you, it's the one's you take that don't pan out."

You lose a guy, he hurts you once. You take a guy that can't play, he hurts you for years.
