Jayden Heavener, Left handed pitcher out of Florida

Choose LSU over Florida, Florida State, Alabama, OU and Texas

That's awesome! A dominant pitcher in softball is as pivotal a position player there is in team sports. Great to see Torina scoring big on the recruiting trail.

That’s great news but if Beth doesn’t get to the WCWS this year I believe SW will want some new blood as a coach. I like Beth as a coach but I think if it is another average year she may not make it to 2024

Any other 24 commitments? I think Sept.1 is the date they can officially offer class of 24

Whoa, how did they pull her out of Florida?
Awesome.

I’d take her 450 to center

She is most likely still 16-17

I think he is saying is really good in his co-ed drinking softball league and is not being a pervert.

I could be wrong but I hope I am not. If I am, Ole boy needs help

They had a really good relationship with her for quite a few years between camps especially. She had been coming to LSU for games and other visits for a while. Her and her family would drive down on quite a few weekends to come watch LSU play plus she is close with a few of the commits

Still has a head coach who will undoubtedly waste her talent and underwhelm.

Hope she does OK with all of the distractions behind home plate.

That's surely true. The situation is discouraging.

Wonderful job by Torina and the staff landing her.

I agree though that 2023 is a pivotal year. Torina is determined to sink or swim with Leftwich and Dobson. Fine. That’s her privilege. But another underwhelming year and it’s time to get rid of all of them. No holding hostage with: “Bu-bu-but! Da number one recruit is coming!”

And yes, I’m sick and tired of the “distraction” behind the plate being the face of the program. Recently when you googled LSU softball, the top trending question was “Who is the loudmouth guy behind the plate?”

Could you please expand on this for those of us who have no idea what's behind this statement? Thanks in advance.

Deangelo Sanchez (brother of Shemiah Sanchez) likes to position himself behind home plate and engage in a variety of antics designed to distract the opposing team and, arguably, draw attention to himself. Some people (including LSU players, at least those who played with Shemiah) love his energy and enthusiasm. Others feel like he’s taking away from the game and being disrespectful and rude, both to the other team and to those seated around him. There has been at least some suggestion that he is sitting in an area for which he does not actually have tickets.

In any case, there have been numerous complaints voiced both on the internet and directly with the LSU AD. Whether it be from pressure from LSU or just growing tired of the pushback from other fans, he decided last year to stop attending home games. He was still present on the road, but not at home for the latter part of the season. He publicly stated he wouldn’t go to another home game. I guess some here either don’t take him at his word or they feel his presence on the road is still problematic.

We need all the good players we can sign but need a focused HC and competent staff to coach up the talent.

At present we seem to have poor focus and little sense of urgency, unfortunately!

Can we save this post for every single time someone asks "Who is that guy behind home plate?"
