But CFB playoff history tells us having a QB that isn’t a running threat severely lessens your chances of playing in the final 4.

9 rushing attempts to 40 passing attempts. They are clearly going to have him involved in the running game. His meaningless HS stats also show that he is not purely a pocket passer.

They had designed runs for Brennan this season. Deal with it.

And not to mention, your argument is not very strong. You have to have QB that is a running threat to be successful in the CFP, but not just a small threat like 27 yards a game but 47 yards will do?

The difference of 20 rushing yards a game by the QB is going to make or break a CFP run

27 yards per game

In high school

Where the QB is generally the best athlete on the field

And I know you’re prob not a math whiz but 47 is almost twice that of 27,

Burrow had 369 rushing yards this year from what I see. That’s 24.6 per game. He had 5671 yards passing for 378 yards a game. Take from that what you will.

Lol come on, do you really think they are going to design plays for Brennan? Lol

Why not? they did for Burrow, what makes you think Brennan is incapable of ever running the ball? Again the guy ran for over a 1000 yards in 3 years in high school. He's not a statue and he's shown a few times he can tuck and run. They would absolutely be fine with him running a few times a game to keep defenses honest. PLus, it's not like we ran 10 designed run plays for Burrow a game, the majority of his runs were scrambles and we sprinkled in some QB sneaks, QB power and QB draws for most part. He almost rarely ever kept it on an RPO play this year. It was a keep you honest part of the offense, not some key factor. The biggest key factor in Burrow's running game was the UNDESIGNED run plays where he took off on pass plays improvising.

quote:

Jalen Hurts led 3 teams to the CFB playoff

Try and read what I said, I very specifically stated WHAT HAPPENED in those playoffs for Jalen? You're avoiding it for a reason. He got shut down mostly.

2016:
vs. Washington - 7 for 14, 57 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT, 84.2 passer rating; 19 carries, 50 yards, 2.6ypc...Bama scored 24 points, defense won them the game
vs. Clemson - 13 for 31, 131 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 88.09 passer rating; 10 carries 63 yards, 6.3 ypc, 1 TD...they lost

2017:
vs. Clemson - 16 for 24, 120 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, 136.2 passer rating; 11 carries 40 yards, 3.6 ypc, 0 TD...Bama only scores 24 points, defense wins them game
vs. UGA - 3 for 8, 21 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT, 59.6 passer rating; 6 carries 47 yards, 7.8 ypc, 0 TD...Hurts BENCHED, Tua comes in to save the day as he goes for 166 yards 3 TD and bama wins 26-23

2019:
vs. LSU - 15 for 31, 217 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 100.7 passer rating; 14 carries for 43 yards, 3.1 ypc, 2 TD...offense only put up 28 in blowout loss

So in 5 playoff games Mr. Dynamic runner Jalen Hurts went:
54 for 108, 50.0%, 546 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT, 99.8 passer rating; 60 carries 243 yards, 4.1 ypc, 3 TD

So in 5 games he averaged just over 1 TD between rushing and passing, just over 100 yards passing and about 50 yards rushing with really bad passer ratings.

Yeah, no, I dont want a player like that for the playoffs. He didnt really lead shite for Alabama, he was just not that good and when it mattered most folded like a cheap tent to the point he got benched in a NCG after throwing up 0's in a half. We all saw first hand ourselves how limited he was against our team THREE times he played us.

Sorry, but hard pass on King because I cant imagine how he could do anything against a defense like Ohio State or Clemson if he gets there to face one like that. You're talking Jalen Hurts all over again.

Or broken down to 27 yards per game

Compared to Burrow's 25 yards per game this year rushing?

I mean do you even do any research before you post

If you're taking out sack yardage, you have to do the same for Brennan too. Just saying.

You're just flat out wrong here and no clue why you think Brennan is totally incapable of ever running the football. The guy is not Zach Mettenberger

I actually agree with Lester on this
The high school running doesn't mean shite as it relates to Brennan
He is nowhere near the runner burrow is
And the play book will look alot diff
I think Brennan can move some and pick up 5 yards

I know enough about math to say this is a meaningless observation. Please tell me the minimum amount of rushing yards required of a QB to lead a team to a title.

Or more importantly, does King have any flaws in his game that would preclude him from having success in the CFP? He only averaged 38 yards rushing per game in 2017, is that enough??

Again, your argument is weak.

No one is saying he is just like Burrow, but Lester is clearly acting like the dude is totally immobile for some reason. A guy who is totally immobile is not running for almost 1200 yards over 3 seasons in football, keeping in mind that is subtracting sack yardage.

I don't think King comes to LSU to potentially lose the job to Brennan who is already established as the frontrunner

He will end up at Ark or somewhere where there is virtually no competition

Right but this system you have to be able to throws something he isn't good at
And the fact that he was worse against good competition is troubling.
I get he will have better players around him but that won't make up for accuracy
Also lamar jackson and him ate apples to oranges
You could build a system around king like they did with jackson in balt but jackson is a better passer and it would be more about him running than passing, king that is

They had designed runs for him in nearly every game he played in this year.

Kid would have to be insane to go anywhere else.

I'm not so sure how hard Oklahoma does go after him.

They have Spencer Rattler who I'm sure knowing his ego if they take a grad transfer they'd lose him immediately and that would probably be a pretty poor trade considering they also lost their 2021 QB commit who was #1 in the country.

And I never said otherwise, but again, a lot of Burrow's running plays were improvised off pass plays. It's not like we designed him to run the ball 8-10 times a game. It was a very small part of the offense just to keep a defense honest when we did do it, or just to get a 1st down like sneaks some times. Not a key aspect.

He was a 63% passer in his only full season

That is without Brady calling plays, handing off to nfl RBs, and chase & Marshall running wide the frick open because they don’t know who too account for

Zero foresight. None. This is actually kind of sad
