I know we have talked about this to nauseam, but how in the hell is this possible? I still don't understand it!

Don't they process lower valued kids by either making them gray shirt, walk on or transfer?

i think he's wondering out loud how this LB will probably be allowed to transfer and play this year.

If Bama gets To’oto’o, he'll have to get a waiver from the SEC to play the 2021 season. Of course Bama will get any waiver they request so this could put pressure on the SEC to also grant Gilbert a waiver to be able to play the 2021 season at Florida.

How do you not understand it? They have 5 stars every year ride the pine. This isn't anything new. As long as Saban is there get used to it. They will never have a down year and if they do, they may lose 2 games tops.

He’s not a grad transfer, so he would have to sit unless things change. This is Bama we’re talking about and they usually get what they want, but hopefully the conference can see how bad things will get if they cave. We’re already looking at two high profile players switching teams. If they are allowed to play next year, the floodgates will open before 2022.

And how they would be able to add yet another initial counter

Are you asking how Bama can bring in so many schollys?

Yep, the NCAA needs to put their foot down and say it's a hard 25, no exceptions, but we know they won't!

I don't pretend to know all the ins and outs of how all this works! Gray shirts, red shirts, medical, walkon's, etc but what is apparent is that Saban knows how to rape the system!

Saban getting this kid after singing 27 this year should draw more NCAA curiosity but he gets away with it.

This is the bigger question. Admittedly, I don't follow recruiting the vigor of some, but all I've heard is that LSU only has 25 spots available...Period! In 2020 they signed 22 players and added 3 transfers to equal 25. This year they signed 23 players and added 1 transfer (24) with all reports saying they only have one more available scholarship for the 2021 class.

Then you see Alabama who signed 27 in 2019...25 in 2020...and now 27 in 2021. I'm not saying what they are doing is against the rules. I'm just curious as to how it appears LSU can only sign 25 PERIOD...every year where clearly Alabama isn't held to that same hard line. Hell, maybe LSU is doing something wrong? Can someone explain?

Ed O needs to start manipulating scholarship numbers just like Saban does.

Their class is ridiculous and they are about to add Henry T and the #1 overall 2021 player.

Why not just make it hard 85. Doesn’t matter how they get there. 33 if needed.

Different situations as Gilbert doesnt even meet the minimum academic qualifications to transfer within the SEC to be eligible which is complete 1 full academic year at a member institution before transferring.

To'oto'o has been at Tennessee for years.

I totally agree with this. Get to 85 however you need to. If you only need 18 guys or you need 30 so be it.

I believe that’s how they used to do it until a few years ago. They changed it to stop schools from processing marginal players and just replacing them with new ones. I understand the logic there, but I don’t get how Bama is able to consistently sign more than 25.

Depends on what you are wondering about...

If you're wondering about immediate eligibility he'll probably get it because he's coming from a school with impending post-season bans and a fired head coach.

If you're wondering about room in this class (because of immediate eligibility)...
I have no frigging idea. I don't think they could swing it with grey shirts having already signed and enrolled enough to fill up a normal class, plus some "Bama Lagniappe". So they would have to get some that have signed to be released from LOI and cancel financial aid and then accept a PWO for a year and pay their own way.

Bama over signs HS and JC recruits AND accepts transfers.
They do if because they can. Their compliance certifies what they are doing and the SEC office accepts that. That’s the bottom line, their people do everything to validate their actions and no one in Birmingham is going to challenge it.
