He just had the physicality of a Kicker. He was always bumping into the people or chasing someone into the endzone.

I think he was made for 7 on 7 football.

Or, he was waiting till the NFL to show his skills.

i vividly remember the excitement about flipping him from Bama at the last minute. seems lsu has a problem developing five stars. more busts than stars.

If he doesn't sign with anyone, do we have to take him back?

My wife used to teach this kid. She always had "issues" with him not completing assignments, blurting random stuff out in class but he always got a pass because he was a star athlete. If his academic performance is indicative of his work ethic, it's no surprise he never panned out.

Good dude but just couldn't cover anything. Wish him well wherever he goes. Was never a lack in effort. Just could never control his speed in any direction.

Go outside and meet the average LSU fan. This place absolutely does not represent the average LSU fan lol.

Did he? He was going to bama at one point out of high school. Then, last year he hopped in the portal with his rabbit got the gun comment.

Sometimes that kind of stuff follows you. Hard lesson to learn.

No, LSU is under no obligation to take a player back once said player has entered the portal. A team can choose to take a player back if roster spots are available, but a player surrenders said roster spot when they enter the portal and the onus is then on the player to find an available spot that is willing to extend a scholarship offer or roster spot.

Many go into the portal and never leave the portal.

ETA: On3's 2024 numbers 3313 entered the portal, 68% or 2248 committed to a different school, 3.17% or 105 withdrew from the portal and were taken back by their former school and 28.83% or 960 players screwed themselves. So far, for the 2025 portal cycle 1597 have entered.

What about Gilbert?????

It’s alarming he wasn’t among the first entrants and im terrified he’ll still be on the team next year. He’s so bad.

You have him pegged. Watching games on TV, of course you can't see the entire field. But on replays of long passes, it was obvious what the LSU safeties issue was. As you stated, they TRAILED the play. The LSU CB might be a step behind the WRer but the safety was even behind him. IMO, the S responsibility is to make damn sure when he comes across on a play, he is either in front of the receiver or at worst off to the side. Trailing the WRer and the CB accomplishes absolutely nothing. Just stay where you were when the play started...you are just as invaluable there.

The LSU CBs have been dumped on by some way too much. If they had competent S help, they would look a lot better IMO.

Gilbert at least crushed some guys, and forced fumbles. If they could improve his coverage a bit he could be nice to have next yr as 5th yr sr. Sage just does nothing out there. Doesn't impact coverage, doesn't impact run support. He's just there. Seeing his angles on milroes big runs are laughable, the ole horseshoe U angle from his deep safety spot

Online it does. Of course people dont act the way do on the internet in public. Thats the kind of shite that gets your arse whupped.

On here, or Twitter (X) or wherever else, you're always good for at least 1 LSU fan saying something breathtakingly stupid. God read the comments on Youtube or anywhere for that matter and tell me I'm lying. The online representation of the "Average" LSU is like talking to the drunk girlfriend of an actual LSU fan. It's next to fricking pathetic.

Here we go! Another... "My uncle's brother cousin sister in-law said..." story speaking on a kid's character from HS 4 years later after they no longer play for LSU.

He had 1 FF

He’s actually worse than Sage. Sage at least gives you some versatility.

i think Theineman ends up at Ohio St and Poyser at Auburn

but Genesis Smith (Arizona) just entered the portal today... is also a SO and just as good, if not better, than those two... i'd love to get him and Tacario Davis, CB (Arizona), as a package deal or something...

Alex McLaughlin (N.Arizona) is another one i'd like to see us bring in for a visit...

as far as CBs, we already have Ja'Keem Jackson (Florida), but i'd like to see us bring in:
Tarrion Grant (Purdue)
Ethan O'Connor (Wash St)
Josh Moten (Marshall)
Bryce Pollock (Miss St)
Marcellus Barnes (Syracuse)

if we can snag 1 or 2 more guys off this list, which also includes Davis of course, then we'd be pretty set at CB
