On paper our staff should be as good as anyone. Jesus our fourth pitcher is someone ALABAMA thinks is worthy of a scholarship and chance. Is Torina fricking serious right now?

Johnson and berzon would have made a great tandem but now we are sol. Thank god we have Howard Dobson coaching the girls up so we will be a top 5 hitting team…oh wait ;)

You can look up the stats yourself at the SEC website, but second in BA, 4th in EERA and 1st in fielding. That is SEC stats only not padded out of conference stats that some teams bring to the table prior to conference play. The one stat that stands out to me is the slugging percentage, which shows that our slapping game gets on base but we dont bring them around to score. Oh and Berzon was a top 4 pitcher behind the greats of Fouts, Penta and Rogers. Just the facts if you look at stats....

Berzon and Johnson would have made for a great tandem. I’m glad we threw chaffin for zero fricking reason instead

It really does. The way this program is being run sucks also. We have no go getter running the show that's for sure

So Berzon's ERA had a lot to do with LSU's ranking. Everybody else pretty much sucked

For the NCAA pitching statistics: LINK

Tenn is 10
Ala 16
LSU 17
Aub 27

So our pitching staff was pretty good last year per statistics.

Kilponen wasn’t super consistent but she wasn’t terrible by any means. It was respectable and solid for us. Now either Torina finds a quality pitcher from the portal or Chaffin will have to get significantly better moving forward with the increase in IP she will likely see

Yeah it would be nice if both of those things happened....even one of those events. I am just so down on the program right now that it is affecting my hope for its future

Well she announced she is transferring to Alabama
I've been out of loop while here at Omaha, but did I read this right?

Murphy pulls in 2 pitchers in what I call questionable circumstances... guess he can deal with their overprotective parents.

Are we past the window where Coach Beth is relieved of her job or could the AD be waiting until after the Baseball World Series to do something like that? I kinda thought this might be the end for Coach.

My guess is that Beth is safe and sound for another round in 24. We are satisfied with a Top 20 ranking apparently. And also satisfied with the current roster that leads to a top 20 ranking. We finished behind Louisiana and slightly ahead of McNeese and that's good enough too

You read about Kim doing this, recruiting this one, in the spotlight working.
Coach Jay picking up transfers, at CWS, building next years team.
Coach Kelly having camps, getting commitments.
Even Coach M is getting his team together.

Coach Beth??? Maybe she will surprise us.

Ava Brown wins 2022-23 Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year. Brown is from Lake Creek High School (Texas). She has signed her letter of intent for the Florida Gators.

Anybody know if Beth/LSU showed any interest?

Alabama Softball lands LSU transfer pitcher Alea Johnson.

The Alabama softball program landed a commitment LSU transfer pitcher Alea Johnson.

Johnson spent one season in Baton Rouge. The native of Fairhope, Alabama was solid in the circle. Johnson finished the season with a 7-1 record and a 1.41 ERA. In 44.2 innings pitched, Johnson allowed just nine earned runs.

ohnson’s experience as a pitcher in the SEC is something that should bode well for the Crimson Tide in 2024. With Montana Fouts exhausting eligibility, head coach Patrick Murphy has placed an emphasis on landing pitchers via the transfer portal.

Several weeks ago, Central Arkansas pitcher Kayla Beaver transferred to Alabama. She finished the 2023 season with a 25-7 record and a 1.15 ERA. Both Beavers and Johnson will be called on in the circle for Alabama next season.
