Great work TB357, could you explain the difference between Level 10 and Senior International Elite? Also always great to have the #1 class

There are different levels in gymnastics with LV 10 being the highest junior olympic level. This is where you see the bulk of college gymnasts come from. The routines and training they do is much less than an elite gymnast. They are scored out of a 10, while elite scoring system is drastically different. Elites have a combined score of difficulty from their routine (D score) and a execution score (starts from a 10)

Elite gymnasts are destined for kids who wish to represent national teams and compete on a world stage. This level of gymnastics is much higher than that of Level 10 gymnasts. The training, difficulty and length of routines are much more demanding. You have to qualify to elite through elite qualifiers. You then have select opportunities throughout each year to try to make the national team and earn international assignments. The goal eventually to make Worlds and eventually the olympic team.

LSU recruits both Level 10 gymnasts and elites. Both come with their own advantages and disadvantages. Level 10's probably aren't as advanced gymnastics wise (not the case for everyone) but they probably assimilate better to college because their routines are very on par with what you see in NCAA. You have a lot of incredible gymnasts come from LV 10, look at Haleigh Bryant, Kiya Johnson, Myia Hambrick, Mckenna Kelley etc. Then you have your elites who generally are more polished and a bigger net of skills but do come with the risk of being injury prone from the strenuous workload of elite gymnastics. Some examples of recent LSU elites include Sarah Finnegan, Lexie Priessman, Alyona Shchennikova, Christina Desiderio, Aleah Finnegan.

Sorry if I confused you. I'll show you two different types of routines (Elite vs Level 10). Both are just different levels of gymnastics

Beam Routine- Elite (Sarah Finnegan)
Beam Routine- Level 10 (Haleigh Bryant)

Konnor is likely going to defer to 2024 because she is one of the favorites to make the US olympic team. I don't think its finalized quite yet but I believe its the goal for her to come to LSU in 2024.

Enjoy this beam routine. One of the big reasons she is an early favorite because her beam is world class.

Even so…I don’t understand how she could have a sixth year of eligibility - unless she was injured early enough in the 2020 season to take a redshirt. I don’t think that’s the case though.

Technically she was injured during the 4th meet of the 2020 season which means she missed 2/3 of the season (we only ended up having 12 meets that year due to covid). I think she could’ve petitioned for a 6th year on those grounds if she wanted to, given that she would’ve been able to redshirt had the remainder of the season happened as initially planned. The girl who tweeted about Sarah taking a 6th year was simply making a joke

Looking forward to the intrasquads this fall. Obviously beam and bars will be all eyes on as these two are the biggest events we need to improve on.

I think floor and vault are incredibly deep so both should be very strong rotations for us.

I just saw where Elle Mueller committed to OU. She is a teammate of Lexi Zeiss. Do you know if Lexi is visiting LSU any time soon or has she already been on campus?

Kelsey Slade just committed to OU. I hope LSU still has a chance to land Chio, Neff or Zeiss.

Don’t forget Lincoln

I think LSU feels very strong with where they stand with Chio and Zeiss right now. Not 100% sure on Kaliya Lincoln but she seemed to have a great visit. Konnor will technically be a 2024 kid if she defers like we expect.

Neff is gonna be tough to pull from Utah from anyone imo but she visited so they have a shot

Neff had an amazing time on her visit. Feel like we got a shot here.
