Remember the days of the huge recruiting bashes?

I never got to go to one, because I was always on the road for work but I always followed them on the radio and on Tigerdroppings, DandyDon, etc.
Those were some huge gatherings and it was fun to follow them even remotely. They would spread out the announcements to keep the anticipation going.

Shea was talking about this the other day on the power hour. I was too young for it but he told a story about Joe McKnight and how everyone in the room just died when he announced USC.

I just left and lost money at the casino after McKnight's announcement. Place was live a graveyard.

I was there…I don’t think anyone was expecting McKnight to announce LSU that morning. It was pretty much expected.
The recruiting Bashes were always a blast. Listening to Saban break down the Class was definitely the Highlight of the day.

It cracked me up hearing that story

Went to a few of the very first ones with a couple of coworkers. Remember watching video of recruits on tube television sets placed on metal folding chairs. Remember watching video highlights of Thomas Dunson.

I remember. Les started the "no chest" thing at one of bashes for a QB that backed out (forget his name).

Joe McKnight recruitment was the beginning for me of following recruiting on a regular basis. I followed it a little bit before but the Joe McKnight deal made me start paying attention year-round.

I went to one, and felt like I stood in line for the free beer he whole time. I think it was the Perriloux year

Remember my dad and his friend going when i was around 13. Said they had good food and lots of beer. Sounded really fun and wish it was still around.

McKnight was a big one. And if I remember right, the year Fornette signed, there were 5 highly rated recruits. Talk was we'd go 5 for 5. Alas, it didn't go that way, but we did get Fornette.

I went to one and it was a blast. Really just an excuse to blow off a day of work and drink all day. And talk college football all day!
