LSU fans are passionate, so what's new? Hey at least we aren't killing are own after a loss or poisoning opponents trees. My gosh kids today are so sensitive.

Maybe it would possibly help if Les didn’t get on TV and act like an idiot.

To me that has more of a negative effect than the LSU fans that come out in public and acknowledge on a message board that they slapped their forehead when Les did his latest impersonation of a buffoon.

Maybe Les is a secret genius.. If so it would help the persona LSU fans have about him if he revealed it.

I love Les in a "crazy" uncle sort of way.

That you think he acts idiotic is just your opinion. I don't think that. And you can't speak for the recruits that decide to come play for him. And he gets a LOT of very talented kids to come play for him. It'd be best if people kept those type of thoughts to themselves.

The problem is when people call him an idiot, they're indirectly insulting the kids that choose to play for that "idiot." You're insulting their judgement and that's damaging. 17 year old kids are just that, kids. They want to do what's popular, but more importantly, what's safe. Playing for the genius coach is a lot safer than playing for the one whose own fans call an idiot.

You can think what you want about his TV antics, but his players absolutely love him. That should be enough for us. You don't have to like him but respect that his players love him and don't insult him. He doesn't need to speak like a Nobel laureate on TV. He is able to speak eloquently, face-to-face, to the people that matter, and that's his players.

I hear it almost everyday from recruits, coaches or parents. Yes they read it and yes it affects them. LSU fans have garnered the reputation of being quick to turn on you. The negativity towards the program on a board also plays on their minds. I got a message last night from a LSU commitment concerned about what he was reading. It is a lot more frequent than people want to accept or admit.

That vocal minority that has spouted ridiculous things about Landon Collins (and more recently Cam Robinson) won't comment a bit on this thread.

Some mentioned things about their families, their future employment in the state of La., etc.....

It was all embarrassing to read the crap that "diehard" LSU fans would write, when they were really representing us in a loser-like fashion.

I was puzzled when the admins of this board would not whack a thread about that crap.

To all that can't comprehend this:

You can't scare a recruit into liking your favorite team.

Talking about him, or his family in a negative way won't provoke any positive feelings, or provoke any fear in not choosing your favorite team.

Suggesting that you spoke to the CEO of your "Large, International Corporation" and that "he said he will never offer a North La. prospect that didn't choose LSU is not credible...if it is the truth, then your CEO and you are a couple of losers.

Anything that acts on the feelings, family, or vocational future of a recruit is OFF LIMITS.

The fact that someone had to write this is ABSURD. You should know this already. The fact that you are confusing idiocy with being passionate makes you completely insane.

on the flipside,
Tigerbaiting
Good humored ribbing, etc is healthy....but basing your life on the decisions of 17 year olds makes you a loser.

Wonder how many are registered as LSU fans.

Tons. If they are willing to kill each other and attack their rival neighbors with fireworks, making a fake LSU profile from the Birmingham public library should be a cinch.

That about sums it up! I agree 100%! Hopefully this thread will bring just a tiny bit of awareness to some of the idiots on this board to keep the negativity to a minimum. And if some other teams fans get on here acting like us and talking crap then we should just out weigh their trolling negativity with an abundance of positivity. I mean it's really not that hard. Also, I think the admins could do a little bit better jobs of patrolling this board. PLUS, we can do our part by using that request admin button to keep that trash off of the site.

I'm in the "real world" and it is not normal for people to openly trash other people to the degree that some fans do on message boards.

You apparently have no clue why certain programs would spend more money in recruiting than we do.

Your example of me being wrong about saying players are smarter than people here give them credit for is the fact that Hootie is an honors student??

Spark up as many"how stupid was nick Saban" conversations as humanly possible in your local communities.

I laughed at him at a restaurant with some stranger yesterday

The iron bowl made him look real bad

I am waiting one day for a recruit to say publicly that one reason they are not going to LSU is because of all the negativity that is spoken on these sites

You nerds sure are full of yourselves today. 90 % of the people on this board have probably never played any organized sport in their life. They have no athletic ability whatsoever, and you think that recruits are deciding on whether or not to go to LSU because of what you losers say on a message board??

Have you looked at the big tough student section that shouts STTDB? You think any of those tools ever played sports? Why in the world would you think that an elite athlete could give two shits about what is said by some kid that got picked last in kickball during P.E.?

Get over yourself!

By asking this very question you still don't realize that money spent in recruiting does not always relate with success on the field.

Tennessee, for example for years have spent more money than LSU in recruiting. They don't have the instate talent to pick from like LSU does, so they have to travel more.

I rest my case....and for your information I've played sports since I was 5...and until I damaged my knee was going to play college baseball. These bashing remarks to kids are not from other kids but from adults who have nothing better to do but to drop f bombs to kids and their parents.

I wasnt asking about Tennesse who has not had great coaching and suffers from a low talent pool. I asked why does Alabama spend 3x more money? Saban already has a national presence and the talking heads claiming how he is the best coach. He is close to Georgia,Florida,MS and LA and has coaches all over Louisiana loving him.

SO WHY DOES ALABAMA spend 3x more money than LSU?

If LSU is at such a disadvantage because of hateful nerds on a message board then why isnt LSU spending MORE money to overcome that?
