just don’t see top guns clamoring to play for Les, esp. after the mishandling of Jefferson and sitting Mettenberger on the bench. it’s obvious with recruits that even if you’re the best you may have to sit anyway behind a senior

See above.

Short of 20/20 hindsight, what was wrong with any of these signings?

The problem has been not signing a QB in every class.

maybe they should have seen something in their evaluations of these guys. perrilloux was a piece of shite way before he ever got to LSU. Hell, he was nearly kicked out of John Curtis.

We just had some bad luck with some of the guys. Yes, main problem is not recruiting one each year. RP should have played in 2008 if he was on the straight and narrow. That would have then set up Lee and JJ for 1 to 2 years of learning instead of having to play right away. Then Zach Lee getting redunkulous money screwed us in 2010 and moreso in 2011.

It's a combination of Les/Crowton not developing QBs, bad evaluations, Les run philosophy offense and well...the engima of Miles that cost us recruiting blue chip QBs the past few years.

Hopefully Mettenberger turns this slump around...or one of the backup QBs on the roster now.

There's a high possibilty that we'll be taking 2 quarterbacks, so I'd love to have Jeremy Johnson. He has a high upside.

I like you TT but as an Auburn fan I can't believe you are criticizing Liggins' accuracy. Have you seen Zeke Pike throw the ball? Not exactly Steve Young or Drew Brees with the accuracy. Hell he's not even Tebow or Sanchez. I think Liggins is going to be fine as a QB. Cam Newton was supposed to be inaccurate as well and he looked pretty damn good to me.

Thos talking about Liggins' size, have you seen the pictures of him? He's far from fat. He's just a big kid. He's not losing those tree trunk legs he has no matter what he does. He'll play at 265-270 at LSU(at QB) and still be very effective running the ball.

He literally has zero accuracy. A fricking cannon for an arm, yes, but no accuracy.

Yes, he's not that good.

So I guess you can throw all this aside:

quote:

Not exactly Steve Young or Drew Brees with the accuracy. Hell he's not even Tebow or Sanchez.

I bet he changes positions where he can actually make a pretty good impact for the team.

That's because Newton spend 3 years tuning his passing skills before he even got to Auburn. Malzahn was just able to get every single bit of his athletic ability out of him. Besides, his accuracy was never as bad as people were saying.

Liggins was a good sign. Kiel screwed us at the very last minute. We had to have a quarterback. Liggins presents us with that, plus, if we eventually do get a guy to take the reigns from Mett, Liggins is versatile enough to play elsewhere. So you can come on this board to tell us about how terrible Liggins is because you saw a rivals highlight of him, but the simple fact of the matter is that we're happy to have the guy. Run along.

Yes, he was. He'd make a very good defensive end or tackle if he gained some weight. He's got good speed and agility.

Yes, he did.

Liggins presents LSU with a what? A great athlete at this point, but definitely not a good quarterback.

Liggins is versatile enough to play elsewhere.

And this would be his best option. See previous post.

Right, because that's exactly what I did.

This post oozes with sarcasm just so you know.

dude go look at the QB rankings for past years and see how many busts there are. Check out the NFL draft as well. Its the hardest position evaulate by far. You can't view these things with 20/20 hindsight.

The trouble is not signing enough. Sims didn't work out for Bama. its not a big deal because they also had McCarron.

I'm sure you and most other LSU fans were fricking pissed when he was signed. Maybe Saban and Mack Brown should have noticed since they were both recruiting him hard.

BTW: We don't win the 2007 BCS Title with out him most likely.

He presents us with additional depth at quarterback. Why can't he be a good quarterback? Should I go find how wrong you are on this board to further water down your opinion.

Sure. And he can play quarterback.

Don't you have some female posters to accost or something?

i really wish people like you would stick to the rant. Recruits do you see things the same way as fans. Your whole "point" is stupid and plenty of underclassmen have played over seniors. Hell, Ridley left early because he knew he was going to get past on the depth chart.

The fact that none of them worked out. It has been 4 years since we had decent QB play. You can make excuses but its a fact. Great defensive and special team play with a good running game has been our saving grace.

The sky aint falling yet but we need a couple of good QB's between this year and next.

Did he leave on his own then? Why was he at East St Johns?

he left Curtis because he said he didn't want to be a strictly option QB (Curtis passes the ball maybe 5-7 times a game and that's generous). He was caught stealing out of his teammates lockers. One of my former teachers and a coach had some not nice opinions of RP11 I was pretty pumped when we got him for sure but frick... it was obvious what type of guy he was
