From a post I made on FB

Last week, Captain Shreve lost to Airline, 69-68. The Vikings (5-0, 3-0) are led by QB Ben Taylor, a senior who has completed 149 of 200 attempts for 2,013 yards and 20 TDs with two INT.

Receivers Kenny Darby and Jarvis Davis have combined for 94 catches, 1,491 yards and 16 TDs.

The district includes two of the nation's top 2027 QBs in Houston and Benton's Malachi Zeigler.

Here is a sample of 1-5A scores from the last two years:
Parkway 46, Byrd 35
Huntington 46, Captain Shreve 35
Captain Shreve 53, Benton 35
Airline 47, Evangel 42
Byrd 61, Benton 35
Captain Shreve 65, Benton 33
Benton 62, Haughton 41
Captain Shreve 60, Airline 35
Benton 42, Natchitoches-Central 35

That's right. I forgot and it wasn't in the Facebook post you made .
I guess evangel is still running the same offense as always.
Although I believe they've taken it beyond what it was. When Berlin was there they threw it a lot , but I think it seemed like alot because most schools ran the wing t. They probably didn't throw it near as much as they do now

The school lists him at 6-1, 185

Airline coach Justin Scogin is an offensive genius.

Back in the day, Evangel lined up the QB as deep as some punters.

It was wild. The 1st time I saw them play was in the Dome in ‘93. I was in awe watching Josh Booty warming up pregame, taking that snap that deep and still throwing darts 30+ yards downfield (past the LOS). They had to have a QB with hose like Josh, Brock, John David, Brett Rawls (?), but teams just couldn’t get to the QB in time to really affect them. And it gave their WRs plenty of time to get downfield and make a beak off a route for a huge explosive.

Josh was a physical freak, and they were playing 1A that game in ‘93. But Brock was still doing it against West Monroe in ‘99 when they finally made it to 5A, even though he was quite as gifted as Josh. (Though that ‘99 WM team was down and sandwiched between their 2 best teams ever in ‘98 and ‘00).

That was the best 3 year stretch of 5A champions in LHSAA history. (WM-‘98, Evangel-‘99, WM-‘00) and along with Ruston in ‘90, that’s probably 4 of the best 5-6 teams in LHSAA history period. Not sure who else you’d throw in there.

Saw the On3 article and the post-game stats shorted him.

His final stats broke the national record for yards and 2nd all-time for completions.

53-68 817 yards 8 TDs
88 rushing yards 2 TDs.

quote:

Coaches, statisticians and reporters from both schools and the Shreveport-Bossier Advocate double- and triple-checked the numbers and conferred Friday morning to confirm the accuracy of the numbers — which actually proved higher than initial postgame reports late Thursday.

He's been the best player in North Louisiana this year. Go watch Bryce Young high school highlights and then go watch P. Houston's. There's a ton of similarities. For a sophomore he's as good as I've seen around here.
