Per Sopsher - Offer Rodney or you don’t have a shot

Rivals
LSU is Rodney’s only offer
Will Bama soon focus elsewhere for DL?
quote:
We are going to school together," said Sopsher. "If a school does not offer us both, then I am not even going to consider signing with them in February. I am just going to wait and see who decides to offer us, but the biggest factor for me choosing a school is us going to school together."
quote:
Me and coach O (Ed Orgeron) are really close," said Sopsher. "We talk almost every a day and he continues to show me a lot of love. We have a very close relationship. I have known him for so long and that is part of the reason LSU is a school I like so much. "Them offering my brother is so important too. There is zero chance we go separate ways. Me and Rodney will go to school together, so LSU giving us that chance does stand out."

I would rather we cut ties than offer the brother. These demands are absurd.
ETA: I know we've already offered the brother, I'm saying I philosophically disagree.

Whole thing just seems weird.
Bama would offer Rodney a spot on the roster and a $200k job as a parking ticket officer. But not a scholarship.
They are going to tell rod no.

Note: he didn't say be on same team, just go to school together.
The "girlfriend jobs" offers will be coming soon before registration period and after the game on Monday.

So, he wants to go to Alabama, so they must find a way to get Rodney a scholarship or make it so that he doesn't have to pay his way.
I'd be surprised if this really made anyone here feel easy. Saban can decide whether LSU gets Ish or not.

Whats more absurd securing the number 1 Defensive tackle (a huge position of need) 30 minutes from LSU because we offer his brother who is also a defensive lineman or losing him (once again a position of need) to our in division opponent to face for 3-4 years and giving them yet another win in the state of Louisiana

This makes him and his family look bad by being so open and public about. It's one thing to talk about this with different staffs behind closed doors but to do it in an interview with the media seems weird to me.
Something seems off with this.

I have no issue with it. Kid wants to play with his brother and is willing to potentially sacrifice his options to do so. That is worth it to him. It will be a fit somewhere. If it’s us, cool.

If we can get Young + one other 4* DL then I would tell him to kick rocks.
It would be easier to swallow his demands If he wasn’t overweight and had motivation issues.

I agree that he is a take with his brother. I know this is unlikely, but could they game the system to have Rodney send his LOI to us and then an hour or so later have Ish sign with Bama?
That will not happen, but I'm curious if there is a rule in place to stop it.

This is certainly not something you want to get in a habit of doing. With that said, we won’t know if it’s worth it until Sopsher gets on the field. If he’s an All SEC caliber guy, it’s worth a wasted scholly on his brother. However, if he’s a bust, that’s two wasted and LSU got screwed.
There are usually 10+ guys in every class that contribute 0 on the field. It just puts more pressure on the other DL in the class to pan out.
Thing will probably begin trending LSUs way soon I’m guessing

Saban isn’t risking something that obvious. Too many other players out there for that

Yeah it happens pretty frequently but rarely does it sound like a hostage situation.

Rodney won’t get the paperwork until Ish’s goes through

Again
The motivation to play for LSU is not there.
Risk reward and all, but will he play every play like R Lawrence did?
Use these two schaelaships in two players that want to contribute.

Then this recruitment should have LONG been over, right? Bama's not wasting one of their spots on his brother.
If the recruitment is down to two schools and one has indicated they are willing to pay your "price" while the other clearly isn't, then why are we still talking about this?
I'm sorry, but it's abundantly clear he really doesn't want to go to LSU. That's completely ok. It's his decision. However, I don't know if I really want a guy (no matter how good he COULD be) who (1) already has motivation questions and (2) doesn't really want to be at your school.
I get that O badly wants him if for no other reason but perception, but this seems to be getting absurd.
