Is it me or does it seem to be not as much " Hoopla " around this year's signing period, unlike previous LSU signing classes ??

Don't get me wrong, I am loving the signings. I think we are getting good players to fill needs.

I just don't seem to be noticing so much fanfare. There doesn't seem to be much hype around the " Big Get" recruit.

No " we got Leonard Fournette " or " Yes, Russell Shepherd signed "

Am I missing something? Is it the time of year? Signing class being so close to Christmas?

Anybody else agree??

Its going to continue to dwindle down in interest.

Several years ago, the "early signing" period began. Before you just had National Signing day in February which was a big deal.

Now with early signing, NIL, transfer portal, etc. It doesn't mean near as much.

now, if we missed on him this year, there's always next year.

Is this the thread where we can say how much we miss the Bayou Bash? Cause that was peak signing day fun.

I also think that the class is already committed to sign makes things less exciting. No live commitments leaving us on edge today. This is however a very underrated class. I’m pretty fired up for Weston, Green, and Durham the most.

The transfer portal, NIL, a lack of sticking to your pledge and a lot of other factors have diminished the recruiting process big time.

I used to follow it very closely, now I feel like I wait until a month before the season starts to really start learning the players. Here today, gone tomorrow.

Recruiting and especially National Signing Day used to be like it's own sport. The Bash was awesome, and even when I couldn't make it, the workday was shot because I was refreshing my browser every 5 seconds.

Same for me. It used to be a bigger deal because you were celebrating getting a kid for the next 3-4 years.

Now it’s just a 1 year deal with no guarantees. It’s exciting to get good players, but hope they will stick around. And if you miss someone like McKinley or Mack then they might come back eventually

I think to a degree we sacrificed excitement this year for stability. I love our signings but there was no drama or last minute flips. Everyone signed pretty much as expected.

Not bad but not great. Wont consistently have us competing for an SEC title.

2025 class will

Signing day use to be like Christmas morning. Now it sucks along with many other things in college football. Majority of things changed for the worse. It’s becoming more like the NFL

Don’t ever complain when LSU is losing an average of 4 games a year.

The recruiting landscape and the game as a whole has completely changed. There's a thread on the RB about the 5/5 saga. There was so much more suspense and drama on NSD..you could watch the NSD show on ESPNU all day long back then

High school kids don’t have the leverage they use to
The portal can take your spot if you don’t sign up on the early date
If you wait till Feb all bets are off

Don’t ever complain when LSU signs 9 of the top 11 in the state (maybe 10). As long as we are keeping the best players from our state, we will compete with anyone.

I think the lack of surprise has a lot to do with it. So many experts and analysts update every detail on these kids we know who they’re leaning too and visits etc. it used to be a mystery of “who do we want, wow did we get him” now we know it all instantly with social media

1000% this.

For example, did you see how many elite CBs went to Georgia this class? I feel very confident a few of those guys will be transferring out when they don’t see the field as much as they want.

Transfer portal has changed everything. You really are never out of a players recruitment, even after they suit up for another school.

The only scary thing is that works both ways.

I tis less and less dramatic about half of these players will never ever see significant time because they will transfer, two will be basket cases and not play and so on and so forth.

It is just hard to invest any emotion into the HS classes as they just dont make or break your future. You can have a great portal year and pivot your entire identity.

I just don’t get as worked up anymore about what 17 and 18-year-olds do, especially nowadays with a third of them gone next year and over half in two years.

Correct, recruiting misses or mistakes or lack of recruits used to be pretty fatal and mess up future seasons.

Now, these misses may be infact already remedied with another Corner, WR, DL and safety and we just dont know it.

That comes with the territory when your top signees are linemen. They don’t get as much hype.

Take Arch for example. Tons of hype that year and he may ride the bench for another 2 years.
