Is that a shot at Neal? Maybe some beef between Milazzo and Neal? Milazzo did drop his w/l record on Mik’d Up.

Considering he personally coached catchers and he tweeted it almost immediately after the Neal news, I’d say yeah

I hate to see Brady Neal go. That said, now is the chance to go find a better all around catcher.

this is a character flaw.
I don’t care if it is HS, Juco or LSU. No coach worth a shite will make that promise.
I love Jay, but if you don't think he's made those promises every year he's been here, you're pretty naive.

Good luck to the kid. No question about it- LSU will be fine. And likely fill the void with a better hitter.
JJ has already proven he knows how to build a roster at positions of need.

We wanted so badly for him to succeed and gave him his chances. His bat was okay. His catching was suspect. Dropped Soooo many balls right in his glove but did have a great arm to pick off stealers.
Hate to see him go, & wish him well, but newcomers are likely an upgrade!

But that's part of the issue. It's one thing ti make a promise to a Tommy Tanks who's actually earned it. It's another to make one to someone who hasn't.

With how the team was playing in the SEC tournament, why would you give anyone who usually sucks an opportunity to frick up the mojo?

he’s the only returning catcher
We still have Ethan Frey

Or should make that promise. If a player needs that you really don’t want him on your team because it’s all about him. Not the team

Neal had a .986 OPS (.408 OBP / .578 SLG). That was third best on the team (behind Tommy and Jared Jones) and third best among SEC catchers with at least 100PA.
That’s an absolutely ridiculous comparison when 64% of Neal’s ABs came against midweek pitching.
quote:
--Ashton Larson: .827 OPS (129pts lower than Neal), only 4 months younger than Neal
--Jake Brown: .810 OPS (146pts lower than Neal), only 3 months younger than Neal
--Steven Milam: .931 OPS (55pts lower than neal), 2 months OLDER than Brady Neal
SEC OPS:
Neal: .580
Larson: .966
Brown: .263
Milam: .760
I don’t think Neal “sucks” either but you’re reaching.

Neal doesn’t develop but jones does? Hurd doesn’t but Herring does? You can do this with tons of players.
Hurd and Herring are pitchers. Jay doesn’t work with pitchers.
Jared was better this year but it was mainly HRs and a little less swing and miss. His BA actually dropped a few points and the Ks were still high.

Holy shite, you may actually be retarded.

Couldn't be the fact that he had nearly 70 more ABs this year (mostly against SEC and NCAA Tournament pitching) could it? His slugging percentage was 100 points higher and his OBP was over 30 points higher this year.

Everything you say is correct, but he's leaning on a BA drop from .303 to .301.
On a rate basis, that's like half a hit.
ETA: It was actually .302 to .301. The difference was .158 hits. He got 69 hits, a .302 average was 69.158 hits.
So, a .001 drop in batting average is weighted more heavily than a 9 percentage points drop in K rate by that moron.

He’s a .300 hitter in college. That’s what he is. Just like Pearson is a .250 hitter.
My point was not a 3 pt drop, my point is his development as a soph gets overhyped. He still looked overmatched plenty. Some positive things for sure, but let’s not say Jay did a great job developing the most talented recruiting class in the country in ‘22 because of Jared Jones

That's because you're stupid. Like, legitimately stupid. If you don't think he got better in every facet from one year to the next, there is no explanation other than that you're blindingly stupid.
Or dishonest.
And neither of these are qualities worth engaging with.
