Neal was straight dogshit this year!

Some of our fans are dogshit, it happens.

He was looking for promises about starting we were probably not willing to give.
Maybe Neal could've promised to actually catch the ball more

...and his demonstrative disbelief after he hit another pop fly as if he couldn't understand how he, being such a great hitter missed it, kind of got old.

Well apparently Neal forgot the part about not sucking in order to be promised to start
Watching people talk about Neal has been absolutely wild lol like was I just watching a totally different guy or something?
Neal had a .986 OPS (.408 OBP / .578 SLG). That was third best on the team (behind Tommy and Jared Jones) and third best among SEC catchers with at least 100PA. He had 9HR in only 116 at bats--an average of one HR every 12.8 at bats. For comparison, Tommy averaged one HR every 11.6 at bats this year. In 2023, Dylan Crews averaged one HR every 14.3 at bats.
Anyone claiming that he sucked this year just straight up isn't living in reality. Even if he posts that exact same batting line next year, that's a big loss. Then you consider that he was the age of a true freshman this past year, and still doesn't have a ton of college reps, and it's easy to see the potential to make another major leap.
I'm sorry, but if your standard is that 19yr olds have to be better than 2024 Brady Neal or else they suck and we don't want to keep them, then you're gonna have an incredibly tough time rooting for this or any other college baseball team.
In fact, let's do another comparison:
--Ashton Larson: .827 OPS (129pts lower than Neal), only 4 months younger than Neal
--Jake Brown: .810 OPS (146pts lower than Neal), only 3 months younger than Neal
--Steven Milam: .931 OPS (55pts lower than neal), 2 months OLDER than Brady Neal
Bottom line: If you think Neal sucks then you should certainly think Larson, Brown, and Milam suck too.

Now do conference stats

2) Jay didn’t develop them in the years they have been at LSU (and in some cases, the player regressed)
I always find this angle interesting. Same coach, Neal doesn’t develop but jones does? Hurd doesn’t but Herring does? You can do this with tons of players.
So when players don’t develop it’s on the coach. However, there are players, under the same coach, that do develop. So which is it? The coach or the player?

Kid hardly even got a chance to play in conference play. By a quick count, it looks like he was in the lineup for 10 of 35 total conference games

Neal was the worst Catcher I have ever seen in P&G. He literally could not catch. I would like to know how many bases and runs he costs us this year by simply missing balls?

the players were not good enough which is a talent evaluation issue for Jay
You recruit mainly off of potential. I've seen enough to know that players can develop under Jay, if a player has the potential and doesn't get better, that isn't always on the coaching staff.

Neal probably got upset about the veteran catcher coming in and Jay probably told him there would be a competition.

I dont think that’s a a veteran. He’s the same class as Neal.

Neal is not even in Milams league dude.
And yes Neal had plenty of opportunities and he failed repeatedly. Freshmen like Milam got his opportunity and flourished.
Fact of the matter is some dudes just have it and some don’t. And your boy just didn’t have it at this level. Sorry

Yea and there was a reason why he wasn’t playing in conference games

He started or played in 12 of the first 15 SEC games. In those games, he was 3-31.
