With LSU not being in the class to spend millions of dollars on high profile players like Underwood, LSU should spend more of the NIL money they do have on Linemen both on offense and defense. Build the team from the inside, LSU has always been able to get the fast shifty players.

Dominating the line of scrimmage will get a school like LSU into the playoffs every year.

Build the foundation and walls solid, the shingles and glass blow away and break

Kelly seems to understand the value of linemen, convince our boosters

Will add a comment in that part of the overall goal is to win the 8 games you should win and dominating the line of scrimmage will do that, then the 4 tough games some years you win more than you lose and possibly win a natty

Building the trenches is important, but so is filling team needs. We need 2 safeties for this team in a bad way.

Safety remains biggest weakness imo.

I thought I remember hearing/seeing that LSU had one of the better QB pressure rates across the country (or maybe conference?) and the safeties were STILL exposed at an unbelievably high clip.

Definitely need some improved safety play!

I agree you grab a starting safety, cb and center and that's about the best you can hope for. People thinking we can completely rebuild our roster to compete for a championship with this portal class are a little unrealistic.

Order of importance:

1) Safety and Blocking TE
2) DE
3) OT or C depending on how well Echols is coming along. If Echols is ready then this drops way down. I’d love to see Echols start in the bowl and move Chester to OG to see how it works out.
4) WR 1
5) QB
6) Reliable RB that knows blocking assignments
7) CB

Agree to a degree, but think we have see enough of Sage and Gilbert. They had their chance. Wish them well, but time to move on. My greedy self wants 2 starting safeties from the portal.

We need to bury this myth... Who was lined up to steal Underwood before the worlds 4th richest man decided to get involved in the last week before NSD? Nobody had made a dent in BU's commitment to LSU until then.

Texas decided to outbid LSU for Kade Phillips at $2.0 Mil over LSU at 1.25 Mil. LSU simply was not going to spend that much on him.

Several teams made a run at Pickett. LSU ponied up because they were not going to lose that one.

Stewart chose to go to an irrelevent program for twice the money anyone else was. Even Oregon/Nike dropped out...

Yep, giving Stewart that amount of money wreaks of desperation…I would have loved to have the kid, but realistically, he has played very little football recently and has tons of question marks to go with the potential…do not fault LSU for not chasing that

I think this was an anomaly. You won't find a bored billionaire alum in every cycle, coupled with a desperate program and an in-state QB.

LSU was more than prepared to spend millions on him.

10 positions from the Portal to find IF you can find the right players (don’t throw away money) :

— 2 S
— 2 CB
—1 DE (Pass Rusher)
—2 WR
—1 QB
—2 OL (OT & C)

And Vanderbilt beat Alabama, Kentucky beat Ole Miss, and Arkansas beat Tennessee.

A blocking TE is needed badly. I’m hoping Lafleur is able to help early in this regard.

Rearview mirror dude…
USC is not in our conf and not on our schedule so for us to ever see them they will have to make the playoff or play us in a trash bowl.

Having an entire group of 5-star OL means nothing when you have below-average WRs and a statue QB whose afraid to run. I’d rather spend big on a superstar QB who can cover up team deficiencies and still elevate our ability to compete in major games.

LSU is the SEC Wisconsin. It's the only hope is to recruit upper level average talent and develop them.

We don't have the money to compete. Is what it is.

Sounds amazing, neither of our lines were dominant this past year. They were average at best and got dominated at times especially the interior offensive line.
