LSU should 100% pursue him very hard but they won’t because they love being conservative and cheap.

We should stick with Nuss. He will have a full year starting under his belt and Collins/Hurley can fight for No.2.
If Nuss comes back I agree. Focus on the DL in the portal.

TLDR but not opposed

Who will be in the market for a transfer?
Miami
Oregon
Alabama
Georgia
Ohio State
Penn State
Oklahoma
USC
Florida State
Michigan needs to be.
I suppose we could try.

I've brought this guy up multiple times here the last few days. He is the perfect fit for this offense.

Even a casual college football fan should know about Mateer. He's the biggest reason that Washington State has had a surprisingly good year.
But he's unlikely, in my opinion, to come to LSU if Nussmeir is returning. Most transfers want to know they are the likely starter, which wouldn't be assured if Nuss returns.
Still, Kelly's first loyalty has to be to LSU and what's best for the team. I hope Nuss comes back and has a fabulous year, but Kelly's loyalty to LSU has to come before his loyalty to any particular player.

I would agree with most of those schools as places that could be looking for a transfer quarterback, especially if he is as talented as Mateer.
I don't think Alabama will be looking. They seem really happy with Simpson, Lonergan and especially Russell, the incoming freshman.
USC is interesting. How much do they like their new quarterback? I think Kirby would be crazy not to pursue Mateer at Georgia, but he really has never shown a preference for dual threat quarterbacks, other than Fields. Georgia with a real weapon at QB would be scary.
I like your list. Big name programs without a proven returning starter, and they haven't been hesitant to turn to transfers before.

Are you his dad or his coach?

I cannot
Read this haiku-like prose
In a way verbose
Hoses shed water on plains of poppies
And never were crabs more needed
But somewhere there is a thread
With sense in the way of non
Or maybe not

He will probably get more money than Underwood in the portal. Doubt he heads this way. More money in a single season at least. Portal QBs -- especially proven ones -- aren't cheap. I saw him play this year. You have a question about competition with him but he throws a really pretty ball no doubt.
U and Oregon will likely bid big time for him so if LSU wants him they better be willing to pay more than they were Underwood in a single season. Regardless, if they want to keep Nuss they will have to pay him too because if he went to portal he wouldn't be cheap either. So pick your poison.

I would say focus on safety, OL, DL in the portal.

Well it's an interesting choice as far as poems go but I laud your effort

Not a knock on Nuss, but he is not an RPO QB. If he was even the smallest threat to run with the ball, our O would be a lot better.
We are decent this year, but when the D can sell out on a blitz and never worry about a QB taking off down the field, it makes it easier to defend us. Either run a true pro style offense, or change the QB.
In college the right call is the RPO, as witnessed by LSU fans with our 2 Heisman QB's!

MiamiYep. They are the most dangerous.
OregonEhh? Dante Moore is the backup and he will be in his 3rd year. That kid will be good.
Alabama Nope. See them starting Simpson.
GeorgiaI think they choose the kid that has been waiting in the wing of Beck.
Ohio StateNope.Sayin is the starter.
Penn StateEhh? I think they should go after him, but they got a legit dual threat backup already. That kid is going to be good. Save the money and get some WRs and OL.
OklahomaNope. Arnold is their guy. If they had any of their top WRs this year, Arnold would have been a top 5 SEC QB.
USCThey could, but Maiva is gone if they do and they'll only have the true freshman left.
Florida StateThat kid would be foolish to go there, but Norvell will definitely try
MichiganThey think they're hot shite now, but just like FSU, that kid would be foolish to go to Michigan. .

our best
bet is
getting Nuss
to come back
for
a 5th
year.
