Completely agree, even more so considering the QB situation the last two years

perceived top notch vs. eventual top notch are 2 different thing. Seems to be the toughest position to project.

If we dont take one this year we'll have signed 1 guy in 2 years whose other offers were UNLV and Arkansas State.

Stop and think about that for a second seeing as how we are LSU.

Les Miles does not consider the QB position to be important and therefore he does not worry about recruiting it. In his mind, just about anyone can hand the ball off in the Toss Dive and that's all that matters to him. If you are a fan of LSU football and expecting to see a great QB, you will be waiting until Les Miles is gone.

not really, YPA is the better measure.

YPA is taken into account in a passer rating, 147 is a lot higher than 130, that's a HUGE difference. You were just flat wrong. McCarron was definitely better than Harris as sophmores.

To put this in perspective. Harris this year at 130, other QBs at 147 for the year:

Jake Coker
Anu Solomon
Mason Rudolph
Patrick Mahomes

So yeah, definitely a difference.

hopefully Harris doesn't declare for the draft after next year.

It's not optimal...but it's basically putting us in the same situation that we were in heading into this year...a 2nd year player as a starter.

If that 2nd year player is a quality player...you'll be fine. The problem is when that 2nd year player doesn't pan out.

Still, it just opens the door for transfer opportunities to fill the gap. This isn't the end of the world.

Agree 100%, After Franks bounced CCC then started recruiting him the hardest when he should have been moving onto Haskins and others, we get behind on Haskins, go visit Russo don't offer, cause we are waiting on Haskins decision, Russo commits later that day to Temple and a couple days later Haskins to OSU.... As far as no QB this year and it being OK, we have seen what a young QB looks like in this offense, we need a guy going into at least his third year in the system for him to be successful. As far as LN, Ive never seen him he could be great, but he may not be... We should know better than putting so much into one guy by now

if harris declares we hit one of the 2 poles (national title or complete collapse) so it is what it is

This just continues the cycle under Miles we've all seen. a young QB will be thrust into starting in a few years and we've never had good QB play under Les with a young first year starter.

Yup. And, that's assuming we don't whif again.

If our passing game struggles again next year, we'll be PRAYING we can land a 3 Star

i think it’s safe to say that Miles & Co. don’t know what they are doing on the field and recruits are not impressed with what they are hearing off the field.

...or a seasoned transfer (we've also see that with Miles).

LSU will need to react. But, it's not the end of the world.

We had the easiest path to the best qb in this class, but his brother was an arse clown. Franks was committed for a while and Haskins had connections with LSU. Three top five qbs, and we struck out. Cam can't figure out who the hell his guy is and has not proven to do that great of a job of getting him. McMillan went off at the LSU camp and got an offer and Cam was done in that class. This class was his chance to prove he could go get a top flight qb. He failed. It sounds like we are good to nab Narcisse who is an awesome athlete. It will be up to Cam to coach him up. I think we need to hope either Harris is really solid and stays 2 or McMillan is legit and can help us as early as this year. People see Harris staying, but he'll lose: top 2 wrs, fournette, and at least 2 offensive linemen. It's not out of the question that a championship run leaves us without Harris. We are not prepared for that case.
