i'm sure it won't be popular but I don't think it's that big a deal not taking a QB in this class. Harris improved a lot this past year and, while still needing improvement, is likely to be our starter for two more years. most top flight high school qb's don't like sitting a year much less two years.

meanwhile, we've got 3 serviceable back ups on the roster now. this year was a kind of shoot for the moon and if we don't hit a top guy go for it next year. that and Franks flipping hurt.

next year is the year that we need to sign an outstanding QB. two, if possible.

We signed a project QB last year. so you're okay with not taking a top notch QB 2 years in a row? That is seriously lacking. What are we going to do in 2018 after Harris leaves? We will have McMillian and either a RS freshman or true sophomore and we're right back to struggling at QB again.

We are an injury away from being in an Andrew Hatch situation. Not good considering the talent surrounding the position.

You have to take at least a warm body. QB evaluation is a complete crap shoot. You have to play the numbers, even if they aren't all high 4*s. More so than any other postion, a 3* QB can turn out to be an all american and a 5* can be a dud. I personally think we should alternate between signing one and two every year.

It really doesn't matter who the QB at LSU is. A top recruit will likely underwhelm. A lower tier recruit will not meet expectations.

I'm very confident that if Haskins doesn't sign with LSU, that Junior Narcisse (2017) will commit sometime late spring/summer. He will be a spring enrollee in 2018 and will be fighting for the starting QB spot as a freshman. Even if he sits a year he will likely start in 2019 as a redshirt freshman, which will give LSU 4 years of greatness if he pans out as projected.

you would be wrong.

We can not continue to not develop QBs and we sure as hell cant develop a QB that is not here.

We have Jennings and Etling...both clones of each other that have failed as starters one at Purdue and one here.

Harris is going to be a serviceable QB.

McMillan is a project guy, hopefully he makes tremendous gains..but lets face it, if you cant beat out Jennings and Harris even as a freshman, oh my.

Now look at what will happen from there, Jennings transfers, Etling transfers or just hangs up the cleats and there you are.......McMillan as the only person who will have time to learn the three years worth of info it seems you need to run this offense.

Remember back to the not so long ago, that day when we tried to start Andrew Hatch? I remember it.

Missing out on a QB isn't all that different from kicking one off the team.

The QB situation is fine right now, not taking any good QBs in 2 straight classes will hurt us down the road though.

Ohhh shite, I hope not. We will just stop recruiting another one then. I pray no one commits til signing day.

No offense to Narcisse btw.

Narcisse's original plan was to commit prior to his SR season, so that's what I'm expecting.

Although Harris improved slightly unless he improves dramatically going forward we will not win the West with him at QB. I don't necessarily blame it on Harris, they are asking him to run an offense that he is not suited for so much. Even though he has a cannon for an arm he isn't the most accurate passer which is what is need in a pro style offense. That is why Mett was so successful "besides have the 2 best receivers in the country" he was an accurate passer.

Looking at Harris he doesn't even look comfortable in the pocket and if you are in a pro-style offense and you aren't comfortable in the pocket well you see the results. Harris did well against very inferior defenses and stunk it up against good defenses. I don't see that changes much going forward because LSU is not implementing an offense for Harris to be successful in.

Saban signs at least 1QB a year. A lot don't pan out but they wind up finding one that fits competing on the practice field.

Not entirely true, other schools sign 3 and 4 star QB's every year.

Our problem is we zero in on one and ignore the rest. We have being doing this for years. We need to stop that crap and recruit multiple QB's every year and even when one commits we need to keep up relationship in case the committed guy flips, just like Flippy Franks.

We shouldn't be in a position where we "NEED" to sign a couple outstanding QB's in a single class. Major room for improvement in our recruiting strategy is needed!

It's going to be hard to pull a big time qb when other teams are probably talking shite about our inconsistent passing attack to these recruits non stop every year.

Coaching staff needs to figure this out cause obviously bringing in a former nfl coach hasnt helped

It is a real big deal because in two years we only have one scholarship QB left... Justin McMillan. We don't need to start 2018 with a Soph QB with no experience and that is all that is left. That is what we will have if we whiff on this class.

We don't need a qb in this class for next year or the year after for that matter. It will leave a hole in the progression like we got with Perillioux.

I question the "Recruiting Strategy" of Coach Miles and Cameron. LSU should always recruit multiple QBs in each class. That is supposed to be the NORM!

Allow the process play out such as but is not limited to what Fisher and Satan did at LSU when they recruited:

Robert Lane -LA,
Matt Flynn - TX, and
JaMarkus Russell - AL.

They did not allow any recruit to hijack their QB class such as Lane. Frank's did it to Les and Cam. Now the Coaches are SOL!

Funny how Saban simply doesnt struggle to field at least a decent QB at Alabama.

Year after year his first year starters he has to throw out there perform at least decently and aren't a detriment to the team. I'm not saying they have all been good but they certainly haven't been an "issue" either.
