Not sure what you mean. I meant that I would love to get a player in the vein of Terron Armstead. A guy who can transition from FCS to top-tier football seamlessly at OT position. There's some in this thread who want to insinuate that the jump from Montana St. to SEC is no big deal. My point has been that Terron Armstead types are the exception, not the rule.

First off, there’s reasons some guys go fcs route. Maybe late bloomer? You named Randy moss because he went to Marshall. There was a reason he went to Marshall outside of football. Josh Allen wasn’t recruited by anyone.

That's a bit of a stretch, but somewhere ULL or N. IL might be accurate

Funny how the NFL is full of starting Olinemen that are from schools I have literally never heard of.

Who was the person on here that kept telling me josh Thompson would be the last o line guy they take?

I tried telling him they would take at least one more tackle

Possibly the greatest offensive lineman ever, Larry Allen, played at Sonoma St.

Montana State and North Dakota State are a class above most of the FCS. It's no different than pulling a transfer from USF or BYU in my opinion. A highly rated lineman from Big Sky is a take for me.

And when you look at those top Big Sky offenses, these guys are athletic and they can fricking run block. They have technique.it will take a particular guy to be able to step up to the SEC, but don’t pretend it isn’t possible.

The top 4 FCS programs would beat 1/3 of the G5 and be competitive with most. These teams have pushed some P4 teams in recent years. They are very well coached and developed.

I used those 2 as examples but McNair followed the family footsteps if I remember correctly.

Not disagreeing. The argument started with "can an FCS player make jump to play against SEC competition" and then everyone started listed players and schools from G5 like that was the same thing. I was just pointing out that it's not

This is absolutely true. Any FCS school from the Dakotas or Montana is not to be underestimated. NDSU damn near knocked off Colorado to open the season this year.

Look at who offers them. Ohio State offered him. That gives you an idea of what coaches think about him.

Yeah, he’s from a small high school in Ohio. He played small competition in HS and college. Not sure he would be SEC caliber

If Ohio St and Michigan st want him then I'm sure he proved himself

Yea. Big difference in the edge rushers he has faced vs edge rushers he would face at LSU. But if Brad Davis likes him I will go with it.

Think he was offer a crazy amount of money to play at Ohio St. last year and turned it down. Swore he would not leave Montana St. This one stings.

If we truly believe that iron sharpens iron, having him amongst the group of O-linemen would only be a benefit for the whole squad presuming he the work ethic, drive and focus to push others to excellence.
