Like Coach Mac used to say: "A bird in the bag is better than two in the bush"(He also used to say: "the ugly ones got the same thing as the pretty one's"-----but its not relevant to this thread)

And you don't think his visit to AU was a big part of Miles' decision to pull the scholly?

not at all

in fact i think miles was relieved that benton had another legit option so that everyone ended somewhat happy

kind of like how he handled the coaches that he fired

Read This...closely.

Kid is as dumb as a bag of hammers and when his grades came through, he tossed LSU under the bus.....just my two cents.

miles said it himself in a presser to the media.

he also just responded "no" to a question of whether benton had a scholarship offer when he committed to auburn.

I feel bad for Benton. I hope he lights us up.

Fail!

The kid had PLENTY of time to get his grades and his act together and could have joined this team a long time ago.

Here's to Loston laying some wood on his arse this fall.

I don't disagree with that. I'm just saying that if Benton had been loyal to LSU, Miles wouldn't have told him to take a hike. Saying on Jan 29 that you are still undecided is not cool if you've been committed to a school for three years and they've been waiting for you to enroll.

no

benton was collateral damage in the war to sign reuben randle. nothing more, nothing less.

How do you know whether or not he visited AU is an issue? He was just at LSU this past weekend.

you don't get your scholarship revoked 2 weeks after you take an official visit to another school

that's not why he did, at least by the accounts reported in this thread (miles presser, randle interview)

I believe this is 100% true. What are your thoughts on Bell?? Did Reuben play into his flip, you think?

I think he was dumped because there was a genuine fear that he wouldn't be on the field due to academics, and Randle is a much bigger catch without that problem. Risking losing Randle over Benton was not a good gamble.

Good call by the Hat IMO.

ANOTHER good call by the Hat.

They're both good, but we got the one we really wanted. In reality, Benton has 2 chances before this to make the team, couldn't, and cost us 2 schollies in the process.
