Regardless of how you feel, I think it is just important to realize that LSU could get in trouble if you were acting as a "booster" when you communicated with someone online. The recruits are aware (or are being made aware) that they are not supposed to engage in this activity.
I think it stinks, but what are you going to do about it? This isn't LSU's rule. It is the NCAA's rule.

How about you not worry about how it would be enforced and just do what is asked of the Athletic Department? Its really not that hard...

How stupid is the NCAA going to look when they penalize a team b/c of the actions of some internet geek, while still refusing to do anything about the Reggie Bush/USC situation?

so, lets all get on myspace and convince recruits to go to bama.. then turn ourselves in!

How about you minding your own business, I was simply stating an opinion.

Chicken, are you sure this is legit? It's very poorly written for a notice coming out of an academic institution.
Further, if a recruit chats online with a schoolmate, and the schoolmate tells him he should go to LSU, is the schoolmate now a Booster, and the communication is instantly illegal? This makes no sense.
If his little brother sends him an email telling him to go to LSU, is his little brother now a Booster?
AD of Compliance?
I don't know. It all sounds very fishy to me.

so question is what can be done from the admin side of things?
say for instance a guy like delvin breaux comes on the board and starts chattin it up. is it now admin policy to ban this poster bc he says he is delvin breaux?

I don't remember for sure, but wasn't he enrolled?

I should have read further. I answered before seeing our resident attorney's response. The "prior" relationship is how many schools get around using people in communities to push players toward their schools.
Posted on 8/14/08 at 4:20 pm to TigerGrl73
I'm pretty sure Delvin was chatting it up before he was enrolled at LSU.

You cover bama; I'll take care of the AU recruits. Who has Florida? UGA? Come on people, UNITE!
