Sad thing. The NCAA worrying about some internet geek bugging recruits to go to their school. I seriously doubt it has any influence on where these kids go. Maybe they would be better served by checking the rides being driven by recruits/players at schools in some adjacent states as well as all the free crap that seems to be given out on the West Coast. That kind of stuff seems just a little more important.

How about you minding your own business, I was simply stating an opinion.
And I stated mine...its not that hard. Some guy gets on here saying he's a recruit...just ignore it. We don't have any clout in getting him to come to LSU, why make the AD go through the trouble of filing a report and making the Admin here deal with unneeded shite...

It's not really a new rule... been around for quite some time. Applying the rule that's already been in place to the cyber world.

Guess this means that CodytheTiger has to be ignored.

That explains why Russell Shepherd keeps turning down my Facebook friend requests.

I think so, too.

No. Apparently not.
. . . . unless you buy his family a $757,500.00 home in California, then it's OK.
NC, if that's a reference to a certain New Orleans RB, it's a bad example. Nobody from USC directly or indirectly provided Bush's family with that lodging. That would (allegedly) be Lake and Michaels, would be sports agents (and not USC fans, boosters or any other such thing) looking to acquire talent illegally.

No, it gets more to the "lack of institutional control" issue that other schools have gotten nailed with. There is no way the SC coaches did not know this was going on and they apparently allow agents to make their way through the locker rooms on a regular basis. I'm sure this is a selling point when they convince these top players that their surest track to the NFL is through the SC locker room.

I personally believe Reggie knew about it, but I'm not sure he told his coaches. San Diego is an hour and a half away from L.A. Reggie wasn't living there, his parents were. How the frick is a coach supposed to be aware of that, unless the student/athlete tells him? Since the Bush thing went down, I believe it's become part of the University compliance officers' duties to check and double check that stuff. But I don't believe it was then.
Real Estate deals aren't what gets USC the best recruits in the country. It's about having a top program in a place with great weather, competing with the best of the best just for playing time, and the media exposure (marketing potential) that being in L.A. gets you. Not to mention there are some very good looking girls there...
FWIW though, I think granting agents close access to college students subject to NCAA regs is a BAD idea.

Obviously, Bush's parents were going to get their perks regardless of where Reggie went.

Now explain how your basketball coaches didn't know Mayo had the flat screen in his dorm room, the clothes and all the bling.

When a college coach has a poor player that suddenly has a major lifestyle change it should throw up red flags. When a college player is making weekend trips to Vegas it should throw up red flags. When a college player is posing for magazines in his "ride" that he obviously could not pay for then it should throw up red flags. When a college player has poor parents flying all over the country watching his games it should throw up a red flag. When you have players riding around in limos in LA it should throw up red flags. When you have said poor family move from San Diego into a 3/4 Million Dollar house it should throw up red flags. Should I go on?

Chicken, you should probably sticky this on the recruiting board. I know there are a lot of folks over there that rarely come to the rant that won't see this if it isn't there
Yep, the recruiting board is what triggered the message.
