Bingo. There's tons of ways around this. And to the poster who replied that we should ignore posters who admit they are recruits, yeah right. That's gonna happen.

Any potential recruit should hereby say that they are not being recruited by anyone, but they "know a guy" who is.

And what if some guy like RusselSheppardRulz or some crap admits that HE is the recruit? How can you verify that? There are tons of posers registered on this board anyway.

I've talked to a couple of LSU recruits over the past few years here in the Houston area and told them they should go to LSU. I guess that makes me a booster.

Nevertheless, I understand the disclaimer, Chicken. Maybe a similar one for potential recruits should be posted, something that would suggest they make their identity ambiguous or risk eligibility.

I figure at least half our recruits read the Recruiting Board anyway, so it shouldn't realy matter. Geaux Tigerdroppings!

If the NCAA was worried about catching rule violators then USC would be on sanctions now. The very fact they get away with anything they want shows a lack of caring or a very large bias on the part of NCAA officials.

So what about the polar opposite? Is it illegal to go to the oppositions board and attempt to convince a potential recruit NOT to attend a certain school. Would you be considered an "anti-booster"?? just sayin

I'd think you would get the axe before it amounted to anything significant.

This whole thing is just a big CYA for LSU. NCAA doesn't give a crap about this. Too vague to enforce.

that's exactly what I'm sayin. How can this stupid rule be enforced? Lets say "illegal" posts got "axed" What about the time between posting and axing? Could that have swayed a recruit? Stupid freakin rule, totally unenforceable.

The whole thing is fraught with uncertainty.
Is it off limits, for example, if we say X Recruit is good and we hope we get him, or would we have to address him directly? (I hope we get your sig)

This would be a good show for The Rant. Get a representative from the NCAA to come on and let us drill 'em.

It's an attempt to cover an area that currently can't be administered.

Last fall a really bright poster on a Buckeye forum (sarcasm intended here) got the brilliant idea to try to get a group to dress up in their scarlet and grey gear and attend one of Terelle Pryor's games to chant at him during the game about attending Ohio State.

Fortunately it was aborted by some of the wiser members of the forum as A)it may have been an NCAA recruiting violation and B) it would show severe disrespect for the Pryor's high school team.

Bottom line is that you don't have the right to try to influence a recruit to attend YOUR favorite school or alma mater. As the parent of a son who may be going through the football recruiting process in a couple of years I don't want some unknown person trying to influence what will be the most important decision of his life to date.

I'm good to go.

I don't think anyone will notice if I get Iowa State the death penalty.

Okay: I hope we get Russell Shepard

Not Okay: I hope we get you, Russell.

And the NCAA consideres the former not an undue influence? hehehe

Houston, we have contact. The latter being categorized as "contact" on a message board

So when RS tells a recruit he should come to LSU, is he, in fact, a "booster" and violating the rules?

It would seem so...

quote:

Please be aware that NO written, telephonic or in-person communication is permitted between a recruit and a booster of an NCAA institution regardless of the medium. Please note that anyone who encourages a recruit to attend LSU is automatically considered a booster.
