Thanks for the recap. I figure that these guys will need a few games to gel and play together. Good thing is we have 3 home games before our first big test. We definitely need to get better at the free throw line, that's been a problem in all 3 exhibitions.

My thought was exactly that. They need some time to gel. You can tell the pieces are there, but the chemistry isn’t yet.

Would like to see Dessert get a few games under his belt. The 2-3 zone that FSU played at times bothered him. Seemed to be a step slow, but my guess is a few games will shake off some rust and he’ll be fine.
He'll get into a rhythm with this team, but he isn't super quick, especially compared to Ruzik's play. He's good around the basket and a nice defender. Everyone assumed he would be the primary 5, but Ruzik came in bigger and stronger than expected, so Dessert might end up being more of a 15 - 17 min role player.

Niang got a foul on the tip off and it felt like that kept him from playing aggressive. Same as Dessert, hoping there is some rust to shake off.
Niang is known for his aggressive, explosive play, and he seemed to be feeling his way through the first half. What impressed me was his basketball knowledge and ability to move the ball around the court. Early in the game, with the shot clock running down, he drove towards the basket, and the D collapsed on him; instead of forcing a shot, he kicked it out to an open Dent for the 3. Then, in the second half, on a run-out, he adjusted his spacing and pace off the ball, setting himself up for the lob dunk. He's going to excel in Wade's system.

Clark and Dent (assuming eligibility) will be one of the best back courts in the league
The only negative here is the shocking lack of depth at guard. The drop-off behind those two is worrying given that both of their cases are up for appeal.

I see Levy didn’t get any minutes. Is he eligible? If so, is he expected to contribute?

Levy is currently ineligible due to age under 5 for 5. LSU is applying for a waiver, so we will see what happens. He would be 9th man, but he is experienced and can eat up a few minutes in the post if needed.

Are we going after any Louisiana high school guys?

As long as proven, older players are available the HS player has to be very special at the moment.

I thought that incoming enrollees could choose 5 for 5 or old eligibility rules?

The rule change will be fully effective for all prospects initially enrolling full time in college in fall 2027 or later.
For students enrolling full time for the first time in fall 2026, and current student-athletes with eligibility remaining after the 2025-26 academic year, schools will apply whichever produces the most favorable outcome, either the previous rules (four seasons within five years) or the new age-based model.
For current student-athletes with eligibility remaining under the previous rules, schools must submit any season-of-competition or eligibility clock extension waiver requests, based on circumstances during or before the 2025-26 academic year, with all supporting documentation to the national office no later than July 31, 2026. After that date, waivers of the previous rules will no longer be available.
The rule is not retroactive for athletes whose eligibility has already been exhausted. Current seniors who completed their eligibility in spring 2026 will not receive an additional season under the new structure.

Not LSU related but just so we can all laugh at Auburn.
Mantas Rubstavicius, who was projected to be a big player for Auburn is officially withdrawing and going back to Europe. Apparently he had already took college classes and the GM didn't tell anyone at Auburn about it.

2027 5 star PG (6’3,170) Reese Alston will be committing Thursday (10/29) at 2:45pm. His final four is Louisville, Tennessee, LSU, and Kentucky. He has already been predicted to LSU on Rivals.

Apparently you haven’t heard or read all of the smoke about his dad being pissed with Wade and wants nothing to do with LSU ??

Normally wouldn't you trash Wade after he committed to whatever other school though? Doing that before the announcement feels like he's trying to throw his body in front of it because the son is committing to LSU.

As expected, the NCAA has filed an appeal in the Kentucky case, and a judge has been assigned.

Yes.
Also, the NCAA is yet to file an appeal in the California case covering Dent. It is expected, but the longer it takes, the better.

Did Clark have a specific reasoning to drop out of the California case and join the Kentucky case?

I would pay to punch that goofy, yankee douche right in his fricking face. He’s such a condescending prick.
