Thanks, can you educate those of us who aren't familiar with the term EI and PG? Appreciate it!

PG is perfect game, a baseball ranking site. Not sure on the other but probably a softball related site?

EI: ExtraInnings Softball is solely dedicated to softball, and as of now the most prominent media outlet for softball. The owner started this platform after leaving another softball platform they started (FloSoftball).

LINK /

PG: Perfect Game is a well known and well respected media outlet and platform for baseball, but got into softball a couple of years ago and also now does rankings but takes a slightly different approach (according to their description) that is akin to its approach in their baseball rankings.

LINK /

Take them for what they are worth. Rankings are a highly debated topic in the softball world mainly because it is not as prominent as in football, basketball and baseball. What I think everyone does agree on is, once the athletes step foot on campus the rankings mean nothing--all about proving your worth on the field at that point.

EI Extra Innings, softball only dedicated site with deepest database tracking on players over multiple years. Only site used for NCAA rankings classes postings

PG Perfect Game, multitiered sports, predominantly baseball with solid rating/ranking database. Softball rankings now defunct platform was a one and done in 2022, small sample size with very limited resources in comparison to their male sport counterpart. Last/only ranking list Oct2022

Curious to know why/how the players are listed in this order, is the order in which they verballed, happenstance or by rankings?
The 24's and 25's listed is inaccurate by either account of verbal order and/or rankings. Assume it's just a list by happenstance otherwise.

NCAA only recognizes Extra Innings for incoming rankings classes and will post as such. Highly flawed system at times, rates 300+ players in top 100??

While highly respected for Baseball, Perfect Game is not a viable or even current resource for Softball and cancelled their rankings platform after initial attempt in 2022.

It’s not in order…

If y’all have an issue with me posting the other ranking feel free to start a new thread and put what y’all feel like. Just sharing the different types of rankings. Got slammed for not putting it before and I guess now for putting it…

Even extra innings has major flaws. They have like 3 players ranked at the same ranking for many different spots. So there isn’t a perfect or truly good softball ranking tool. As evidence by many many years, rankings especially for softball mean nothing but it’s something to discuss I guess

So if y’all want me to remove them just let me know

Agreed 100%, EI certainly has it's share of issues and by no means trying to cause a headache, but they are currently the only actual ranking site posted by NCAA for incoming classes. The Rankings are always a sensitive topic, especially the pre-collegiate ones.

Good Information. Now if this 3 ranking in recruiting can at one time during their tenure turn into a 3 seed in OKC

Yeah, RIGHT?!!! I think most LSU Fans are hoping for the same. It is creating some good hope for the program. The last 2 recruiting classes are very promising. I personally believe the program will be getting better each year over the next several. This 2023 class is very very talented. Add the next group and Coach has the makings of a squad that can battle it out in supers.

Its always funny to see the uproar each season when EI releases their rankings bc outside of the top 30 players that are pretty dominant everywhere they play, the rankings really aren't based off of anything concrete except who received a bunch of nominations. There unfortunately isnt anything out there metrics-wise like in baseball and football.

I personally think Neal is going to do wonders for this team's hitting. His energy has re-invigorated Dobson, and his approach to hitting brings a scientific approach that was missing in previous years.

For example, Taylor Pleasants (or anyone else for that matter) never measured or tracked avg bat speed, one of the most relatable measurement when it comes to hitting.

With that as a KPI, and training tailored around it, I fully expect them to have a pretty solid season at the plate.
