Lsu turned away good players and not going after some real good players cause what the coaches thought they were getting or thought was good is why. Look at Kaufman, avantae Williams, Gibbs and multiple others out there that could easily get if would have gone after them that would not put LSU thru a circus drama. But you live and u learn.

Clemson’s class of defensive linemen is just an embarrassment of riches.

If we don't regress.

Have to show we have arrived and are here to stay.

Doesn't mean we have to win every game every year, but we need to be in the discussion of the top three / top four year in and year out.

Our most important recruits remain who is already a starter on the team that comes back as they could use more time to focus on specific areas of improvement. Stevens comes to mind. Would love to have Cushenberry for another season. He's probably the most important player to help assure continuity with handing off the keys to our new QB.

You should text every recruit and complain.
How dare they make their own choices about life decisions

And $$$$$

We did all that with a Top 5 class last year and it’s AWESOME we are getting another Top 5 class that meets needs this year.

We don’t sign Arik Gilbert this year without the offensive changes. We probably don’t sign Dumervil, maybe lose Boutte to Bama due to their offense and need for elite receivers. Point being, we could be a lot lower than 5 due to how little talent was in LA this year. I think we really start seeing it all pay off next class. Arik Gilbert is the first of many this offense we will attract.

And last year Clemson won the NC and had the #10 class while Texas and Texas A&M lost 4 games each and finished #3 and #4 respectively.

And Alabama won the NC the year (2017) before that and their 2018 recruiting class was #5.

And Clemson won it in 2016 and their 2017 recruiting class was #16.

You see a pattern here?

Recruits specifically go to Bama and Clemson for Saban and Dabo

Dabo let’s his coordinators run the defense and the offense.

No shite. You don’t hand pick elite recruits just because they want to play at Georgia.
Whatever they are doing it’s working

We are at #5 this year also, even after:
Huge renovations/new locker room
#1 football team
Won almost every individual award out there
Made the playoffs
Beat Bama
Picked up Brady
Heisman winner

WhAt gives?

Do you think all of this means you don't have to recruit the players?

If we are consistently in the top 5 we will play for championships.

It may just be me, but I'd rather not have the top class, I think the best players are players like Justin and Clyde and Lloyd, low rated guys that get in late and have a chip on their shoulder. You don't get too many of those guys if you're #1 recruiting class every year.

yes, i'm sure Bama would gladly trade their 5 championships they won with all those #1 classes, just to have those "feel good" stories about a 3 star beating the odds...

It has taken Clemson 4 or 5 yrs. to get where they are. They did not have top recruiting yrs. for the most part but had game changing quarterbacks.
