I think Perkins might be trouble. Every interview he's had makes him come off badly,

Agreed. He comes off pretty badly and his family comes off even worse.

Every day I want less and less to do with him the more I learn about him and his camp. These are the types of folks we're trying to keep away from the new LSU program culture.

Very talented kid, no doubt. Just don't think it's worth it. He's also definitely a kid that would transfer after one year or after a coach yells at him.

All i heard in that interview is him saying florida has a package for him at wildcat.

All the schools are going to tell him that bs.

Devin White came to LSU as a RB. You get the kid on the team and you figure it out with him as you go. If he sees a better path to the field (and NFL $$) at LB, he'll make the obvious choice himself.

That Polynesian bowl interview was certainly not his best moment.

I wish some athletes would do something to work on interviewing skills and the like, but usually don’t concern themselves with that until they are in college.

I'm excited for Perkins but man, his Polynesian bowl interview was really tough to watch

I couldn't stomach the entire interview. I'm excited the kid has an opportunity to get an education his K-12 apparently needs more programs. Best of success to him, I hope he is surrounded by men of character that take the time to pour into his life.

This isn't the 90s and early 2000s where you play both sides anymore. If this kid wants to make it to pros he'll have to decide. I highly doubt we are telling him you canp play Rb here. I also think Napier and aTm are lying about him playing wildcat there.

I think it'd be a good idea to tell him there will be some spots where we can get him some carries. I highly doubt anyone is guaranteeing him a major role at RB.

I wouldn't lose a recruit of his caliber over this issue. Myles Jack played some RB at UCLA.

I have a weird feeling we should steer clear. Special talent no doubt. I get it. I don’t believe the drama with this kid will end even after the ink dries.

I agree totally. I'm not going to join in with the hand-wringing over his character.....not just yet anyway.

I can remember when I was his age.....immature as hell. I was walking across campus once and the Communications Dept. people saw me (I'm a handsome dude) and stuck a camera mike in my face. The best way to describe how I came across is sounding like a retard.

Anyway, some people just don't know how to handle the spotlight when it first hits them. Let's hope that this is his case and that he learns how to present himself publicly. I haven't heard anyone say that he created a problem with his football team.

Did you have mature, solid role models at home?

I worry this kid doesn't and his interviews are just the tip of the iceberg.

I keep hearing how bad it was but I watched it 3 times and all I heard was

1. He doesn't worry about the fans or other people's opinions.

2. Basically said he didn't tell Jimbo he committed because once he announced it, he was done with it. That's pretty much like saying he committed to the school not the coach. He announced A&M why call Jimbo. This is TD logic to its core. Not to mention a lot of coaches don't inform recruits when they don't want them anymore. They just stop calling or never send the LOI on signing day.

3. He wants a school that takes care of its players. maybe NIL related but to extrapolate that into the negative things I've seen about the kid is a bit far.

4. He didn't feel like LSU was recruiting him hard enough but that's their decision so no hard feelings. Which was obviously true since he's now uncommitted and spending 3 of the next 4 days with the staff.

5. He claimed Ray Lewis and J Vilma as his two favorite players. Two of the most cerebral defensive players ever and their primes compared to his age say he's a student of the game to even know who they are. He was 10 when Ray Lewis retired.

He rubbed me the wrong way at first to guys. But the more I look at the situation, the more I think this kid might be more mature than meets the eye. Well-spoken? definitely not. It's more about what he says and what it means than how he's saying it. He's 18 for crying out loud.

years ago is not today...where athletes train and develop at a much earlier age.

I'm with this post 100% good job laying it all out. I kept hearing how bad the interview was, but it definitely didn't live up to the rant hype.

I've been in some of those environments years. I don't think the interview we've all seen was an official press conference or media availability type thing. Lots of "media" folks at these things are walking around with recorders (mostly iPhones honestly, these days) and a microphone and grabbing a few minutes with any kid they can get.

I don't think Harold realized it was going to go so wide and was just kind of cutting up and shooting the breeze with a guy asking him a few questions. I'm sure if he were at a table with 90 mics and a room full of reporters he would take a more formal approach to the answers. Just my two cents.

Ok 15 years ago is not that long ago, and I’d be willing to say Sims would still be a 5* if coming out today.

Years ago Ernie Sims was the number one linebacker and No.1 player at 205 lbs. I believe he played LB in the NFL at 220-225. So Perkins is plenty big enough.
Ernie Sims! That, My Man, was a better blast of new morning than the first swig of hot java!

I would tell him that it’s a bad idea if his goal is the NFL. To be coming in and learning a new defense on top of offense would hinder his development of his actual position he would play in the NFL.
