Tech has 2 Young billionaire ex Tech football players that want to win. Type in Double Eagle. If they want him even we can't compete with Tech. Nor Texas or A&M. Those guys are loaded and want Tech at the top.

Yeah these guys refuse to come to grips with the fact that 95% of the reason a players chooses a school these days is money
Do you always say what you think as fact?
Dumb.

What "buyout" are they referencing? Is this just how they are defining paying more than TT as far as nil goes or is there already a contractual obligation hes made to TT?

He’s got a contract via TT and some has been paid - they’d have to cover that

Thank you, thats crazy thats allowed. He hasn't even graduated high school yet. If an entity wants to pay a high schooler to do name, image and likeness thats fine but it shouldn't have any ties to a college until that player is officially signed and eligible to play with that institution. A 16 year old kid getting financially and legally locked in to a school and it being contractually leveraged against them should be illegal just on principle alone.

If he signed his NIL deal then yes. Remember the quarterback from Washington that was entertaining going to LSU and they were looking into his buyout.
I don't believe he has already been paid by Texas Tech and signed an NIL package. I could be wrong but I believe the buyout theyre referring to is just an inferred buyout, as in, how much of a package would we have to put together to get you to flip from Texas Tech.
I could be wrong.

Jalen Brewster’s Property Purchase Adds Confusing Wrinkle To Recruitment As LSU Looks For NIL ‘Buyout’
quote:
New developments suggest that Brewster already signed an NIL deal with the Red Raiders. However, it is unclear as to whether the purchase of property in Lubbock is part of that agreement or separate.
quote:
According to Colby Faria of TigerBait.com, the situation has escalated quickly over the last few days. Brewster is showing a strong interest in LSU but NIL money could be a factor. The Tigers are apparently looking into what it might (or might not) take to “buy out” his deal with Texas Tech.
quote:
And here’s the interesting part.
It appeared as though Brewster (through his parents as trustees) purchased property in Lubbock, Texas at some point in early or mid 2026. Was this purchase made through the university or a booster with the university? Was this something that he purchased with money that was provided to him during the commitment process? Would he have to give it back? Is property considered in the buyout? What does that look like? Would LSU need to pay back the land? Would it provide a lump sum back to Texas Tech?

It seems like it's going to be too hard to figure out and pay back all that nil/home purchase.
That's why teams do it.

Bet you wouldn't be saying that if it was LSU who had already signed him

Definitely would, It doesn't bother me to actually have rules around protecting teenagers in high school from making short sided contractual obligations to college football teams. Or would I have a problem with any thing that is enforced to protect the school or the game, ya know like betting on football games...

You seem to think these kids are just making these decisions alone after being prayed upon by agents and schools. No state lets a minor enter into a contract unless there is parental consent (and yes I know this doesn’t amount to much in many cases where moma/daddy want the money too), court approval, or a legal emancipation (which is another form of court approval). A 16 year old can’t buy a car, rent an apartment, marry or even post bail without one of those things happening because they are all forms of Ks. Most states the age of majority is 18 but MS where I am it’s 21.

If I had to guess it's because Texas Tech doesnt have a message board website, just a Facebook group.

You'll have to show me where Texas Tech wasn't just sucking everyone off in the Texas court system to try and get him cleared to play. Yall are the absolute last fan base to come in here preaching about taking the moral high road and doing whats best for anyone. It took your states dumb arse attorney general sticking his head up his arse, threatening lawsuits to get TT to do the right thing. I hope Sorsby is taking that five million he stole from Oil boy and betting 2 mil of it on yall going 8-4 this year.
