Always remembered the topic statement from Dave Aranda.

CB and Safety recruitment is key…. DL recruitment just as important with pass rushers.

We have had some fantastic DB's in our past, not doubt!

But, the years they stood out the most were the years the DL front 4 or 5 were BEASTS.

When the DL is superior, the QB doesn't have time to think, get into rhythm, let plays develop and set his feet......and the DB's look like Gods, but it probably wasn't all their doing as the QB was always making rushed or poor passes.

Elite cover conners & safeties make your Dline look better against passing teams. Elite DLimen makes your cover corners and safeties look better against passing teams.

In modern football, Elite cover corners and safeties means you can have an excellent defense against most teams. It can make you susceptible to teams that can run the ball well if your Dline is average.

I've always thought that elite Dlines with good to very good cover DBs will give you a better defense overall. And of course

I mean if we can get shutdown corners and safeties, pass rushing DL who can also stop the run and mix in a few good LBs I think we could really have a decent defense.

Nobody really talks about it much, but when the defense was practically a no fly zone, our D-line was always 2 and 3 deep with animals.

If any level of defense is dominant, it can dictate a lot for an offense. I guess Dave is saying, it starts in the backfield.
