It's not true. The whole premise is stupid. Boosters with no friendship with a coach just Walz up to one and offer money. If they do the coach will tell them to take a hike. Except maybe Will Wade, which is why he is at McNeese awaiting his show cause.

So you really are clueless…

It's truly amazing how many people can't grasp how the real world works, ESPECIALLY in highly competitive endeavors.

It's like they believe earth is all rainbows and butterflies. It's nowhere close to that way because humans are sinful. Things aren't perfect until you get to heaven.

I believe before nil that boosters were more likely to go to a rep of the HC to find out what he needed. After nil, I bet they go straight to the head man.

So you don't know anything, but claim everyone else doesn't know. Bet you believe in at least 3 conspiracy theories that close friends and family pray you never bring up.

I think McMahon is in over his head. I heard from a reliable source who knows one of LSU's biggest basketball donors that $ for recruits has been there from day one.

McMahon was supposedly asked what he needed by the donor, and McMahon reportedly looked like a deer in headlights and couldn't even answer the question.

Well, isn’t that fricking lovely.

Look dumbass, you can drive past a lot where a house once stood, see a pile of charred remains, and not have to witness the actual fire to know the house burned to the ground.

I have never been privy to an actual booster talking to a HC or an assistant about "what they need". But I've talked to a number of people that know and have told me what goes on behind the scenes.

I hope for your sake your being intentionally obtuse, and you're not as naive as you come across posting on the rant.

Totally different. In this case you didn't see anything, but someone is telling you they saw a house fire and you are making up the rest.

We get it. You have a weird crush on Will Wade. But he had to go and is never coming back.

I have an extreme liking to winning basketball and consistently reaching the ncaa tournament. That is something which looks ever more distant with McMahon as coach.

Well this thread sure has turned nasty.

When will we know what, if any sanctions the team will receive, so we can finally get out from under the dark cloud that WW left over us?

Can we just burn the thread at this point or move it to the rant? Don't even understand how this has turned into a pissing contest about who has booster connections

We have one more transfer spot left. Overall I think LSU has done a good job in the portal all things considered. We aren't taking the SEC by storm next year, but we upgraded at some key positions and got a solid replacement for KJ at center. Now if the existing players show some improvement and Mwani stays healthy, it could be fun to watch.

I think we will know something by the time Javonte Smart IV is being recruited

I'm thinking we take another guard with the last spot. Doubt it will be a huge name due to the limited amount of minutes available in the backcourt. Will probably be a younger mid-major transfer or possibly a JUCO transfer

You don't seem to get much of anything, especially my fire analogy.

What I have a really weird crush on, is for LSU football and men's basketball to be as successful as possible. We have the right guy in football, and WE HAD the right guy in basketball until our administration decided not to back him. A lot of people think Wade won't get a show cause. If that's the case, there will be egg on a lot of faces in regard to the Wade had to go crowd, which you seem to be leading the cheers for.

The anti-Wade crew is an interesting bunch. Do you people not realize he had us competitive EVERY YEAR, had a better start to his tenure than Dale, or hell even better than coach gay at Puke who was on the ropes after his first 2-3 years in Durham? I could easily see Wade having a Scott Drew type tenure in BR, with us being close to the top, and then breaking through for a title or two. It calls into question whether you're truly a tiger fan or not.

I would imagine any feeble response you have would be to put your naivete on full display and argue like the moron you are that Wade cheated and had to go, while blissfully (or intentionally) ignoring how all the top players at every school are recruited illegally.

Now that the portal entry deadline has passed, except for graduate transfers, we now know there are no other current LSU players leaving which means we have 1 scholarship available to use - if the staff even intends to use it. The "better" players remaining uncommitted at this point that we have reached out to include the following short list:

C - Moussa Cisse, OKst (unlikely due to transfer history and optics)
SG - Tyrin Lawrence, Vandy (doubtful his friendship with Wright wins him considering competition from others)
PG - Andrew Taylor, Marshall (possible)
PF - Grant Nelson, N. Dakota St (highly unlikely due to NIL expectations and competition)
PF/C - Isaiah Miranda, NC State
C - Aziz Bandaogo (he is going elsewhere for sure)

Van Lubin and Alexis Yetna (when healthy) are interesting but not real good fits now. After that the pickings are slim unless its a bottom of the roster practice guy transfer or remaining unsigned freshman. We may end up with the roster we have as is and keep that last spot open for down the road or as a sacrificial lamb.

Sophomore Jusaun Holt from Georgia was a late portal entry. Couldn't find a list of schools that have reached out to him but do know we reached out last year when he transferred from Alabama. Pretty good defender with some 3-point potential. Would be a good target if they are interested in filling that last spot

Can anybody clear up if we have self imposed that 1 scholarship ban this year or not? There's been some noise that we have done so.

That was reported by one writer with On3. From all articles I can find about the Hunter Dean signing, they all mention us having one more spot left. So if they did self impose, they somehow did it without any local sources learning about it, which I doubt. To me, if they were going to self impose, they would have done it this past season. Doing it after the ruling is supposed to be given would have little benefit

Agreed.

The staff is still reaching out to players in the portal. That means they are intending to fill the final spot...or someone on the current roster is likely to transfer but hasn't announced just yet.

On3 and 247 have both reported LSU is out of scholarships.

So if LSU is still reaching out to portal entrants either someone is leaving, Cook may not get his waiver or a scholarship player may become a walkon.
