Terrific, physical defender. Anchor of a big-time UNT defense.

Time to get Tchewa some crawfish

Has there been any update on Cisse and Sharp? We had reached out to both but haven't seen anything since

Cisse I have no idea, but he might be looking for more minutes than we could promise too. He seems like someone who would be more versatile at least.

And honestly at this point I would take Phillips over sharp just due to the potential that I believe Phillips has. Really hope we can pull him out of the portal
And the thing that I liked most about Phillips was that most of these 7 footers play kind of soft especially out of HS. He may have been rough around the edges as far as footwork and post play, but the dude was anything but soft

If Cisse puts on an LSU uniform, the irony would be pretty strong. The NCAA used his recruitment to put the icing on the NOA cake.

Same here. I don't really care much about his offensive game (which is raw). You can't coach length and desire, and he looked to have both. If all he does is defend, rebound, and occasionally get a dunk/put-back here an there he would be a big boost to the team.
LSU was a terrible defensive team last season. They weren't a particularly good rebounding team either. From a % standpoint Phillips was the best rebounder and shot blocker on the team (in very limited minutes). The new transfers on board are solid. But two of the 3 (Cook and Baker) aren't great defenders. Baker is not a great rebounder for a 7'0 guy.
Assuming there are no more transfers, maybe the best case realistic scenario is to grab two of the 3 guards you are recruiting (Girard, Abram, Stewart) and convince Phillips to stay (unless there is a better big man out there LSU is on that we don't know about)

It would certainly be great if Phillips stayed at LSU. And I would be surprised if that happens.
But I am interested to see how Baker will play.

Think KJ Williams with a little better inside/post game and a less consistent outside game (three point shooting). Both are ok (at best) defenders simply because of their size, but by no means guys who are intimidating rim-protectors or game changing defenders.

CS is official
Official in that he has committed to transfer to LSU?
Edit: Just seeing he is listed as committed on the first page. That's great. One more solid guard (hopefully 6'4" or better) and a rim protector and we might be set.

Are we actively recruiting Phillips to return?
Pretty much everyone who has transferred or is in the portal was seemingly advised to.

You come into an LSU basketball recruiting thread after a portal pick up to let people know that you don't care? What is it with you people

I'd take Hayes and Phillips back in a heartbeat.

I saw Hayes interest level is Louisville (not your older brothers Louisville) and a bunch of low-mid majors

Yeah his list of teams that had contacted him was kind of strange. I know Louisville has been horrible the last few years but they are still a power 6 team. After Louisville the other teams were ECU, Cal State Bakersfield, High Point, Mercer and Jacksonville State. Desperate times for ole Kenny Payne

Louisville was playing the Silkk the Shocker of Master P's basketball playing kids. Hayes would get plenty run there.
