Miller was a nice addition to this class, glad to see us building through high school a little more

McMahon has no excuses now. Either he is in the NCAA tournament or he needs to go coach somewhere else.

Updated with Carter and Miller commits. Also added Fountain and Cook to projected roster. For some reason I thought Fountain was out of eligibility but forgot about covid year and haven't heard news either way on Cook so just assuming he is staying.

Not really seeing your point here. College bball recruits have been getting paid for decades. They were getting paid at LSU long before Wade

Would be nice, but lets say we sign sears. Wouldn't that put us at the roster limit?
We could definitely still have movement off of our current team but just seems we would be full at the moment

That’s a pretty good deal. 120k for a sweet 16 team.

120K was probably less than LSU lost hosting a NIT game this year with almost no one attending.
Compare that to the NIT game in Wade's first year when he and the USL coach almost came to blows. I miss LSU men's basketball excitement!

Yes that would be true, but I think Sears would be a long shot IMO.

Its just a matter of time before Cook is in the portal, probably Stewart too. There's no way Cook comes back after what happened this season

What exactly happened? Why isn't he in the portal already if you are sure he is leaving? Seems the sooner a player enters the better options they may have.

Per on3’s Joe Tipton:

NEWS: 2025 four-star center Dewayne Brown tells @On3Recruits he’s cut his list to two schools: Tennessee and Mississippi State and will announce his commitment on April 20th.

He was permanently benched/suspended for nothing injury related. Wasnt a team player. Wasnt well liked. McMahon flat out came out and said he wasnt meeting his "Team requirement" obligations.

I am suprised you think that about Jordan Sears from his top 6 he gave out on IG: LSU, WVU, USC, Bama, TTU, and ASU
I would argue that we are the best option. WVU already got in my opinion the best PG transfer in the class Tucker Devries. South Carolina is keying on JP Pegues from Furman, Alabama already got a guard from the portal and I am pretty sure Estrada is coming back. I have to believe that LSU is a better destination than ASU and TTU.

Take it for what it's worth but from what I've been hearing, it's really LSU, South Carolina, and ASU for Sears rn. They'll both probably get a visit from him also. I personally think it will also depend heavily on what Cook is going to do in my opinion. If Cook stays, there is really no reason for Sears to join this loaded guard room and fight for a starting spot when he can go elsewhere and start. On3's prediction currently is 100% in favor for us, which of course could change, but that could be a foreshadowing on Cook leaving for the portal and Sears being his replacement.

I'm saying this because at the moment, LSU does not currently have a scholarship open.

In the NIL era what is the value of a scholarship? Couldn't we just recruit a kid, have him sign an NIL deal and have additional money wrapped in to pay tuition and board? If so the NCAA allows you to have a roster of 15, so why not recruit 15?
I hope this doesn't sound sarcastic I am just wondering if their is a rule I am missing or don't understand.

This is basically what we did with Hunter Dean because he wasnt on scholarship this past season.
2 issues though:
1. For good players, you're going to run into the situation of some other schools more than willing to not only give competitive NIL to what we would, but also honor a scholarship
2. I dont know what kind of NIL we could even offer to even get particularly competitive guys here if we say you're not on scholarship...guys like a Hunter Dean, basically
