Again, this is so awesome. I really thought Kurland would be a draft risk. So nice not having to wait that out. Really helps build the team knowing what you have.

So apparently Milam and Kurland played travel ball together. Who knew. Wonder if that had something to do with the news of both withdrawing coming out within 30 min of one another

We cannot forget about Dawson Park...where is he going? I was thinking move him to 3rd. Ruckert might be in a platoon situation or compete for COF spot.

That was posted prior to the news of Milan and Kurland making it to campus. Park could move to 3B. Does Milan get labrum surgery? Maybe he’s at 2B and Kurland gets the 3B look. I just don’t see the point of totally giving up on Ruckert when he performed pretty well when inserted in a role way before anyone planned. And if this team hits like the paper says it should, his defense could be more valuable than a few more hits.

Does Milam have a shoulder injury?

Yeah that was a weird arse comment. Havent heard anything about an injury for him.

Labrum. It’s been mentioned a few times. Hunt brought it up most recently I think. He wasn’t even taking pregame infield most of the year.

C/DH Arrambide/Serna
1B Serna/Braun/Ruckert
2B Kurland?
SS Milam
3B Parks?
OF Waters/Wachs/Patrick/Braun
Not gonna guess outfield positions. More guys than positions and not including freshmen or a bunch of the guys who didn't transfer out.

Parham chooses to only mention the strikeouts per inning.

The position players on the IN list is encouraging, but id like to see more pitchers on the list.

Like Elle said, Hunt brought it up last week, but it was mentioned causally early in the season. Which was not a shock to me at all—he didn’t have the same consistent zip on his throws this year. As someone who played a season with a torn labrum, you can gear up and hose it every once in a while, but you have to pick your spots.
It’s why some of the plays he made this year were so incredible, it was how he put himself in position to make the play and his quick release. And it’s definitely a factor in him coming back. He’s probably already had surgery. Rehab sucks, and the faster you get on it, the better off you’ll be. Obviously. But the adding 2 IFs even with him coming back is probably insurance in case he’s not 100% by February. He might miss some time early, might have to play some 2nd, or might have to sit some midweeks in order to be at his best towards the end of the season.

Park 3B, kid has a great arm. Milam at SS and Kurland at 2B is an absolutely elite defensive middle infield. Ruckert could play OF or take a spot in the lineup depending on opponent pitcher?
I really don't know. I do know defense should be light years better regardless.

I've had labrum surgery as well and echo most of this, although my rehab wasn't fun, it was a pretty quick recovery. I was a couple years older than Milam as well. I doubt he'll miss a beat next year and be ready for Fall ball if he's already had the surgery.
I was out of my sling for the most part in about 2 weeks.

Yeah, to be fair, mine was in 1998. I’m sure he’ll be in much better hands than I was.

Ruckert played a lot last year and proved himself worthy. Jay isn’t going to just shove him to the bench.
