Baseball America recently covered this, but it's just an insane class of Top 100 guys
LHP Schmidt (won't make it)
RHP Hirschkorn (won't make it)
RHP Stringer (can make it and would contribute)
RHP Sides (likely to sign, easy day 1 impact)
LHP/OF Nawrocki (pretty torn here. Lean towards signing but could impact LSU as either a pitcher or position player next year)
OF Washington
OF Davis
OF Murphy (The thought is we land one of these 3, each would compete for a starting spot immediately)
OF Roberson (Should come, will compete)
INF Weinstein (Like our chances, will compete at 2B/3B)
1B/OF Santarelli (Likely to sign but instant 1B/DH impact here)
1B Adams (Torn here, would contribute year 1)
The rest of the signing class I'm pretty sure wouldn't be able to make a large year 1 impact as the OP had asked, at least aren't obvious candidates to.

This guy absolutely crushed in OOC play against us, TN, SELA, Michigan, OSU
But hit .248 in MAC play; how the hell that happened I'll have no idea

Sounds like Milam. Mash against good arms but can’t find it against mid majors for whatever reason

I have a hunch that Watters may be visiting right now. Just makes sense with the slew of Jordan's following and going from A&M to Texas, BR makes a lot of sense as a next stop and actually puts us in a great spot as his last(?) visit.
Texas board confirms his LSU visit started yesterday, not yet sure if it is over.

Do you guys think the signing class is any consideration on how many portal additions we take? Or do you just stack as much talent as you can (obviously allocating money to positions as needed), see what happens with the mlb draft, and then tell anyone not landing in the top 34 they don't have a spot? No complaints, just curious. That's a huge signing class.

It’s not so big when you realize many will sign and some will go to JUCO. You have to model this portal class around the HS class.

This is just my opinion based off of a few of Jay’s comments (many other more valuable opinions in this thread):
I think you want to sign deep HS classes and very top heavy portal classes. I may be wrong, but getting Moore, one other elite pitcher, and a guy like Ace Reese would probably have been worth the rest of the portal class combined.
Jay was clearly unhappy with how the combination of the portal and HS signing class ended up last summer. We’ve been able to get elite guys every year with exception to last. Getting elite guys from the portal has worked and I think Jay would prefer his developmental guys come from hs where year to year retention is probably easier/more economical than outbidding other schools in the portal.
