I also really like Hanoian a ton as well. Yorke was a flop this year obviously but I don’t think he had a poor personality or attitude (unlike Carraway). I went to a few scrimmages and Yorke seemed very outgoing and engaging.
But yes this kid would be awesome. Wonder if Hanoian could play 3B or even SS.

Agree. Caraway was the only that seemed to be all about himself.

I’m sure Jay will make comments at some point this offseason to give a little more light to what went wrong. He did that the prior offseason to say what the mistakes with the ‘24 roster was.
The pitching staff still has me baffled. Nearly every pitcher took a step back. How is that possible.

Agreed. The hitting doesnt concern me. I went through all sec lineups, no one else had more than 2 freshmen in their lineup, and auburn and kentucky had the next youngest lineups to ours, and they werent any better offensively. The job they did with the hitting was really good. The pitching is unexplainable. Lotta veteran and 2nd year players all regressing. Dont think we can just trust development with young arms. We’ll need the proven guys. The good news is that one of the 2 or so arms that improved was schmidt, and he should be back. Him, evans, and moore is a really good start. Build around it with some projects like paz and ricken, and bring in a couple proven arms.

I think it really helps that we aren't asking any of those three to do something they haven't done before. Which we were (to an extent) with all three this year. Moore will be a bit of a wildcard coming back from injury.
But in general, we're going to be asking those guys to be better in their roles rather than take on a new role. I'm hoping that mentally, that makes a difference for them.

We actually scored more runs in SEC play this year than we did in 2025. The pitching gave up nearly 100 more runs which is just unexplainable.

Sometimes I thought we were trying to be too cute, too precise and instead of throwing the ball we resorted to aiming it. That rarely works

I think it will help some, schmidt naturally needs to make one more decent leap, i expect him to.
Evans im unsure if itll happen, but thats why i want another option. Moore i think will be fine.

Good point cub, never actually looked at runs scored, but pretty basic stat that does tell alot

My concern about evans isn’t his stuff but if he’ll ever really have endurance necissary to be a consistent starter.
Even in his best long outing he looks like he is laboring after like the 4th inning/60 pitches. Clearly the results diminished as well.
Is he more of a Chase Shores?
Wouldn’t be made if he could give us 3-4 inning across 2 games in a weekend as a high leverage reliever.

I think everyone would love that, except asking him to do that in his money year without a chance at starting (perceived more value at the next level) probably wouldnt go well.

Striker Pence just reclassified to the 2027 class. We're recruiting him, but I don't think it matters where he commits. He's going pro.

To be fare, Chase Shores made good money.
He absolutely will get the chance to start, but if he isn’t killing it I coild see him ending up on the pen, because this years performance isn’t getting him first round money if he does it next year.
I think we should go after at least 1 sure starter and a second guy with experience.
