Josh Pearson is the only player who contributed to this year's CWS title who was also a key contributor on the 2023 team at the end of the season (No, Jared Jones doesn't count as he didn't play the last 5-6 weeks of that title run). Fast forward just 2 years and Jay overhauls the entire roster and wins it again with players who are essentially in Omaha for the first time. That's enough to be excited for 2026, 2027 and whatever else is to come in the future. No matter how hard this team is hit by the draft, players out of eligibility or just natural attrition/transfer portal, we've got a guy who will keep the engine humming into the future.
I think we should all keep that in mind as we follow this thread to its fruition. All of these players we talk about and end up landing will form the next iteration of championship Tigers.

Jay recruiting in his presser. Love it.

Will Cowan be back or will he be drafted? Jay never really alluded to him as a major leaguer like he did with others.

I got a downvote. Offended!

I keep checking for updates here but the more I think about it, the returning core, especially on the mound, has me pumped for next year. If we can keep some the higher end HS guys, we might not really need the portal

You figure Schmidt Williams and Evans slot into starter roles, Noot and Cowan could figure into the starter conversation too. Rizy will be in pen, along with Guidry. That’s 7 guys just offhand that I have a fair amount of confidence in and they’re already on staff. Jay can really cherry pick who he brings in this year.

Jay (and the players too) have made so many references to "having he right guys on the bus". Which tells me he wants to make sure whoever he brings in is going to be entirely bought in to what we're doing.

Not to mention sheerin will be back healthy from his injury as well. I’m super excited to see him next year. I think he can be a guy to log 40+ innings for us

I get that, but Every time jay talks about a portal add, it’s “when he entered the portal, I knew we had to have em”. I don’t think he’s vetting character all that much when it comes to top talent.
With that said, a program with a steady vision will conform players that otherwise may not have the buy-in needed.

The guy that tore is ACL is a stud, Sherrin? Bet he gets into that weekend rotation.

Something tells me that he has already developed a feel for a portal prospect - man is a relentless worker

quote:Yes. I don't believe all of their games are streamed, and the most recent outing was radio only from what I saw.

He had a rocky first appearance, but then pitched very well in his second.
1st game he went 3 IP, 2H, 4K, 1BB, 1 HR, 2 ER
2nd game he went 2.1 IP, 0H, 0BB, 0R, 4K
For the season - 5.1 IP, 3.38 ERA, 8K, 1BB, .563 WHIP.

I'm high on sheerin. Can't wait to get him back.
Is it just me or is lsu going to need to add some more bats out the portal?

We can officially turn to the draft in 3 weeks.
The high school crop is strange in that none are really locks to go in the first round from what I've seen but seven to eight guys could easily see their names called rounds 2-5. I used to have a really good feel for signability but with NIL there's no telling anymore.
