I think that NIL has totally changed the game. The traditional logic of "giving up your leverage" doesn't seem to apply as much anymore.
I think it has for HS draft picks but not Jr’s who would lose leverage. If you can provide me an example of a guy anywhere that has given up his leverage to return to school, I will be happy to admit that I was wrong. Also, the “industry standard” is you start your pro career at 21. Guys just don’t won’t start their pro careers at 22. Agents often advise against it.

Not specifically asking you, but what is Guidry's plan? The subject was completely dropped by the end of April.

Id imagine he’ll be back at lsu for another junior season.

Tennessee got someone committed today.
And Camden Johnson from Wichita committed to Oklahoma. So they have two Cam Johnson’s now

Hope he enjoys losing to a SEC team in a regional every year.

Is Cam Johnson going to stay at OU? Dude had a pretty disappointing season starting as a weekend starter to barely seeing any action at all by mid-season.

If Frey signs for under a million I'll be annoyed that we didn't redshirt him when he essentially didn't play so the leverage piece wouldn't be a factor.

Age still matters in the baseball draft, so even if he redshirted he would lose some value by coming back.

Redshirt or not, he would still be 3 years out of HS and draft eligible.

Yes, he would obviously be draft eligible but he would still have 2 years of eligibility left so he would have leverage to return again next year. Look at Noot. And Guidry. And Shores-- although he's signing regardless. All will be redshirt juniors next season so all can return and still have leverage next season.

At first i saw “gallaher” and got excited that their 3rd basemen jumped in the portal. Then i saw the name correctly, and saw the stats, are those k and bb numbers real?!

That might be the most "3 True Outcomes" season I've ever seen lol. 64% of his plate appearances were either a walk, strikeout, or homer. His OBP was 197 points higher than his BA!
