I was reading Casan Evans bio on LSU and it says he was ranked the number 9 best high school player in Texas by Perfect Game. They had 8 guys ranked ahead of him? They must be some kind of good.

4 of them were drafted in the 1st or 2nd round and signed. 2 of them are his teammates (Arrambide, Cooper Williams). The other two are Sawyer Farr (A&M) and Brayden Bergman (Baylor). Farr hit .176 in 31 games and Bregman threw 1 inning.
So he's definitely had the most impactful freshman season of the top 9. And I'd argue that 2nd and 3rd on that list are the other two LSU freshmen. I can't speak to the long term outlook on those other guys, but I feel good about LSU's guys.

was he like this as a pitcher before he focused on it full times
i’ve listened to him in interviews basically say he started pitching full time and the velo ticked up, and he got better.

North Dakota State SS Jake Shaffner and LHP Danny Lachenmayer are in the portal. Not connected to them, but they both showed some talent against LSU this year (and Shaffner last year). Lachenmayer has the chance to be a real dude.

Tutko is now on Lachenmayer.

Just to show how much the portal has changed since last week, I think Brayden Simpson was a Top 60 or 70 commit less than a week ago on 64Analytics, now they have ranked over 4k players in the portal and Simpson now sits barely inside the Top 175.
ETA this isnt to bag on Simpson, clearly a good pickup, just shows how fast things change in the baseball portal so quickly like when half of UVA's team enters the portal (6 of top 11 are UVA players on 64analytics)

How much $ did MSU promise O'Conner's players all in the portal from UVA

Daniel Harden will be playing in the MLB Draft League this summer with Mahoning Valley. It's a month long league (the second half of the league is guys that don't have eligibility left) with a lot of talent in it. It's all draft eligible guys but doesn't mean that he's leaning to going pro.
ETA: Miguel Sime is pitching for Trenton in that league. I do think that means he is leaning toward going pro.

Have not followed the incoming class much yet. Are there any are slim chances to make it to campus. Last year we knew Griffin and Bateman were signing, but guys like Schmidt, Arambide and Fountain and others were always sort of up in the air. Just wondering if there is any insight.

Seems like Quentin Young is a long shot and everyone else is kind of up in the air type guys.
You have 8 guys in the MLB top 100 prospect rankings and you hope you can land at least 3 of those 8.

I think Ebel is a long shot.
Someone geographically close to Serna says he's 50/50, which bodes well for us given the local third hand reports are always that a kid is signing pro no question.
I think Briggs McKenzie will get paid too much to come here.
I think Sime is going pro.

The ties Young and Ebel already have to MLB makes them less likely to pursue the college route

Project - i know this is a little off-topic but weren't you pretty vocal years back about not liking O'Conner? Something to do with his recruiting or how he treated his players? I remember when a lot of LSU fans wanted him to replace Paul you were against it.

It was how they were coaching pitchers and hitters. They were doing things that were so opposite of what pro ball instructs that there were guys being told by their advisors not to go there. I don't think the same pitching coach is still there. I don't know on the hitting side of things.
