His new favorite word in this one was projection.

He thinks gaining weight = projection, especially for pitchers velo.

As if an 18 y/o who’s 6’4 235lbs can’t recomp and lose baby fat and put on more muscle without much weight change, or clean up mechanics to improve efficiency and velocity. And same for a 6’0 190lb OF for their swing…

Drove me nuts how he used that phrase.

happy with Stansfield coming back, especially if signing moss is becoming less likely

Patrick is the one I want. If Jay can work on rebuilding his swing and helping him hit for average, with the rest of his athleticism the kid could be a solid 1st round pick when he’s done at LSU.

Agreed! Was a very lazy/shortsided view of actual projection.

I do see Patrick making it to campus. Watched him play 3 times this year and he struggled at the plate against average high school pitchers. With that being said.. the speed and defense is elite.

He is very comparable to Kling coming out of high school IMO. Question will be if he can make the correct adjustments to his swing to be the type of player we think he can be in SEC play.

He will be similar to Frey also in that he played multiple sports and it’s at a lower level of competition in Louisiana. Maybe if he concentrates strictly on baseball he can develop into a star player as projected.

Patrick is fun to dream on. Apparently his glove and arm will play right now. Let Jay (& Chief) get to work on the bat.
Another DES along with Moss I believe

They couldn’t help Kling! Some players just don’t belong in the SEC….Not to say they don’t belong but, they not good enough to play!

Kling became a headcase at the plate. There is no mechanical fix for that

Reading the MLB Draft thread on the rant reminds me quick why I appreciate this thread so much when it comes to baseball.

Any chance we see Larson back? Feel like he may have gone into the portal to see what happens with draft and transfers to give himself options. I know he’s busy playing cape ball, but havent heard any visits or rumors. He would be a big piece.

Yes I remember that but he did say there was some exceptions. He even said there was a player they tried to get back. Seems jay and Larson were close and he seemed like a team first player. Another player I feel like jay would welcome back is Mic Paul. I think Jay was referring more to players like entering for money in that

Just don't see Jay making any promises and AL needs the guaranteed ABs this being his $$$ year

I do wonder if the door is open for Larson to return since he hasn't committed anywhere yet. If we lose too many outfielders to the draft, maybe there is a chance.

I think there’s a possibility but I don’t think Jay is gonna commit to 3 left hand hitting OF all year long with how he likes to play the R/L matchups. I still think Larson would be splitting time with a right handed bat in the OF, and he’d honestly be better off going find more playing time.
