No, I think they can make it work if Frey has the mind frame of willing to return. I'm just saying it won't be matched like people say. I explained an example scenario last week in regards to this.

quote:

It would take someone like Frey to value another college season at the difference. Say he gets offered 400K in draft and 100K in NIL. Not really sure what he gets in next year draft but lets call it 50K for fun. That is leaving 250K on the table. Does Frey think a senior year of playing at LSU is worth missing out on 250K is kind of how I look at it. Factor in taxes and all of that into the equation as well. Guess what I'm getting at is there are so many moving parts to these MLB draft decision that it can get really confusing trying to make some type of guess as to what might happen.

Again, those numbers are for fun. We do not know what the numbers will truly look like when it comes to the draft.

Something like this I could see as a realistic possibility of Frey returning and NIL helping that. Like I said those numbers are quick round numbers but the formula could be a little more with both draft and NIL.

NIL will still exist. The issue is what amounts will be approved. I would hypothesize that no 6 figure or 7 figure NIL deal has ever been fair market value. People like to say "you're worth what someone is willing to pay you". The problem with that is that these deals aren't being made with financials in mind. It is just discretionary spending by rich people. No different than them buying a boat, etc. I'd find it hard to believe that any business has seen a return on investment at those amounts. There have already been reports of the clearinghouse drastically slashing amounts. Of course, illegal payments can still be made just like has always been done when anything over 0 was illegal. The clearinghouse is just deciding the new legal amount-- somewhere between the old 0 and the infinite that has been in place the past few years.

I’d be very happy with this portal class if we can nab Taylor, even if he is the last add.

Pretty confident this is one black hole that will never don the roses. Arkie and a&m have done something unspeakable to the gods of baseball [possibly cut deals with the devil himself]

He loses 6 figures if he comes back. Thats not my opinion its 100% a fact. If a team drafts him they have a amount worked out. I really hope he comes back but coming back cost him alot money

Anyone have returning players, recruits and transfer’s summer stats? I feel like someone usually posts a whole thread every year but I haven’t seen it this time

Hard to say as there has not been much movement/follows on social media since the portal window closed. From the outside it appears they are looking more at middle infield now than outfield for whatever reason - maybe they feel comfortable with Harden and/or where they stand in landing a freshman outfielder or 2.

Pitching and MIF is where they appear to still be window shopping.

Seems like Dean Moss is a name getting mentioned very often, I am not sure if there's a legitimate chance of him at LSU, or just fans hoping to land a Big Fish.

I think he's been identified as the big fish most likely to land in the boat. Obviously outside of Serna. So it's a little bit of wishcasting, but there is some legit chance.

Hodge seems to be leaning pro now. Getting Serna locked up helps make Hodge a luxury rather than a necessity. We needed either one.

It might just be me, but I would feel better having a veteran glove behind Milam at SS.

Pitching could be setting up a plan B after the draft.

It wouldn't shock me if they bring in a Ben Nippolt type after the draft to back up Milam, depending on who makes it to campus. Jordan recently started following Jakob Wax who was Troy's starting SS last year. He is from Prairieville. He fielded .933.

Other than Taylor, I've been wondering if they are waiting on the draft before adding more portal guys. Just to see where the roster stands.

At times this year it felt like we never had superstar position players on this team (maybe too much comparisons to 2023) but looking back there are some pretty big holes to fill. Really excited to see how Jay makes the 2026 team work out despite having a dookie portal class and potentially taking it on the chin with this years draft. This is when having a coach who can build teams around what he has to work with becomes so important.

That’s a bummer. I’m trying to prepare myself for the worst due to Jay’s comments last week.

Hoping for some pleasant surprises but didn’t sound good for all the 50/50 guys
