Brayden Horton
From what I can find it appears he only played 1 game at catcher. He was mostly an outfielder

Admittedly I was looking only on tbe liberty website
Kinda odd how they have him listed solely at catcher though

My informant (son) said one of the players 'had a broken arm". That could mean anything from an arm in a sling to having fingers taped up.
This is about Frey. He is in a sling due to his shoulder

It's hard to tell for sure based on the stats on their website, so would have to click on every box score. I spot checked but looks like he only caught sparingly. Baseball Reference usually does a good job of capturing that data, but his stats aren't listed.

And there are freshmen that people think will start all offseason because they are ranked high.
You don’t know until they play. Most do not have what it takes to start as freshmen. So why assume one will start right now
100%
In fact, I’d almost bet that at the end of next season if we have at least 2 guys that are obvious contributors and known “dudes” from this incoming class, at least 1 of them would be a surprise. And by surprise i just mean from a bit deeper on the rankings

I assumed that was the case since he wasn't playing summer ball. Milam is in a boot as well. I guess that goes back to the ball to the foot against KY

It's a message board and we're on a recruiting thread for who we will have next year. If someone thinks an incoming freshman is good enough to start next year so be it.

No Brady, unless we have another Bregman or Crews coming in, you’re not allowed to hypothetically pencil them in as your opening day starting lineup..EVER!

It’s annoying when websites don’t have the special report section.
LSU well tell you exactly how many games each player started at a position.
End where in the lineup they played. a few others do too. depends on who runs your website I guess.

3rd base looks like he has potential
.265, .272, .263 averages over 3 years playing against pretty mediocre competition doesnt scream LSU caliber to me, he also strikes out a ton without seemingly have a bunch of power.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned this squirt:
5'8, 165 lefty CF
Dude is really small but has put up 2 really good seasons in a row. All-freshman team in 2023 hitting .310 with 22 SO to 39 BB then hit .326 with a lot more pop this season (12 2B, 9 HR) and had 26 SO to 53 BB. He also stole 17 bases as a freshman and 25 this season.
If that guy hit the portal, seems like a no brainer to go after. Dude is tailor made to hit leadoff with that SO to BB ratio and the ability to steal bases while also hitting for a good average. After looking at their whole roster this seems to be the only guy who would be LSU caliber more than likely among hitters and pitchers.
Edit - this dude also got pegged 12 times this year, he's a perfect fit for Jay

I'm not sure if we're still in the market, but that guy would definitely generate interest within the conference.

I’m hoping we get Kuch to come out of the portal. Would be totally good with the below infield depth
Milam/Reaves/Hogg
Braswell/Kuch/Ryan/Hogg
Dickenson/Kuch/Fountain/Hogg

Liberty's head coach just resigned
Article I found says he’s expected to take a job on Forbes’ staff at UNC. We’d probably have to battle them for any players entering the portal.

Portal lefty to monitor: Luca Shinn from Washington.

Did he decommit from TCU?
Anyways, not exactly a lefty we need IMO, pretty rough 3 years for him at UW

Because it came from Billy Luicci. He’s a clown too.

idk resigning and taking an assistant position isn’t exactly an indicator things were going great.
they may look elsewhere.

Doesn't feel like we're going to have Braswell and Kucherak with the addition of Dickinson. It seems pretty clear that Kucherak doesn't want to go up against 3 experienced guys, which is understandable from his point of view. From our standpoint, he would be a great 4th option but you cant have him in ypur top 3. I think it's either Braswell, Kucherak, or another portal add. Hopefully we get Fountain, Ryan, and Hogg. That would make a nice 2nd unit as freshmen. Of course, Reaves and Pearson are serviceable as well if it shakes out that way.

just for fun im reading the comments from this thread from last july
-MJ Seo is my favorite player in the class
- Kucherak/Lape should start at 3B in 2025
- don't sleep on Derrick Mitchell as a possible starter
- Jake Brown is gonna pitch
- Mic Paul playing well in summer, if you take an OF transfer has to be a stud like Braden Montgomery
-Grant Taylor will come back cause his people want $4mil
-Guidry will start at 2B
and that is just like 3 pages.

Freshmen in Opening day SlIneuo by year:
2024: Jake Brown
2023: Jared Jones, Brady Beal
2022: None but that class sucked
2021: Dylan Crews, Tre Morgan, Will Hellmers
2020: Case Doughty, Hayden Travinski (DH)
2019: Drew Bianco
2018: Daniel Cabrera
2017: Jake Slaughter, Josh Smith
2016: Duplantis, Dawson,
2015: None
2014: None
2013: Bregman, Laird,
I didnt going and count Weekend starters who are pitchers. which I think it’s the equivalent to opening day starters for position players.
