Yeah he contradicted himself in the next sentence. Maybe he meant the “insurance” of rounds 17-20 are for the 11th and 12th round picks.
This MLB draft stuff is extremely intricate and can get confusing. That’s why I’m steering away from the Rant with regards to the draft. I appreciate all you guys knowledge here.

It’s funny that he said a couple weeks ago that none of his assistants would leave for anything but head coaching jobs and then he lost Yeskie and now they had to promote Cain to keep him from leaving

You are correct, my mistake. I didn't realize pick value for unsigned players draft in the first 10 rounds is deducted from their overall pool. Then I have no idea why clubs pick unsigned players at the end of the draft who already turned down seven figures. That would be insulting! They either think you are stupid or desperate.
