Dave Van Horn recently said that a catcher made a silent commitment to Arkansas. Any chance he was referring to Skenes?

Seeing as Skenes has said he wants to visit there after the Team USA stuff, I'd have to think it's not him

Weren't they on Collin Price?

Kid from Curtis that I'm watching for next class is Austin Ackel.

My friend coaches in the district, O Brien is the fastest kid in the Catholic league he thinks. Doesn’t strike out. Prototypical leadoff hitter/CF. Dirtbag

Ackel will likely play football in college

Eames the C is a rising Jr.

O’Neil going to Delgado is one to watch in a year

Bruno is a 24’ who is the QB on the football team is one to watch too. Plays basketball too, 3 sport kid

Not sure any of these kids are lsu quality yet but JC has a good thing going right now

Ackel has more velo in that frame. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him pop.

I haven't seen anything lately. But I heard Moscona mention his name the other day so that had to come from somewhere. Moscona would otherwise have zero clue who he it. So I'm wondering if there is something there but under wraps until after the draft.

Huggins is a draft risk. He played all year with Cam Collier so everyone has seen him. And his upside is very apparent.

I just saw a new draft wrinkle I didn't realize was in play. The Royals are in the process of trading the 35th pick to the Braves. You can only do it with certain types of picks, but it will increase what the Braves can spend and decrease what the Royals can spend in the draft.

The Braves like to draft local guys, this could potentially affect someone like Jared Jones. Not the 35th pick, but the extra bonus money that comes with it.

after a rough second outing in the cape, Bryce Collins bounced back with a nice relief stint.

I think the Astros acquired a pick from the Marlins several years ago. It’s extremely rare for people to trade those picks away. It’s a pretty big game changer to have them.

Sounds like skeenes to me. If he’s talking about visiting Arkansas and Arkansas has a silent catcher committ then I would say it’s him. Just because he wants to visit Arkansas doesn’t mean he hasn’t already said he’s going to Arkansas.

I hope it’s not him but it would be a coincidence if it wasn’t him.
The thing is though, they have to get a catcher so it would also make sense that they would have one already so they don’t miss out all together by waiting on skeenes .

Maybe skeenes doesn’t want to announce till after USA baseball. Arkansas needs to know what he’s gonna do more than us though

Basically I’m saying that I think it’s probably skeenes but if it is why hasn’t he announced? You gotta think dvh is pestering the shite out of him because he needs a catcher so bad. Maybe skeenes just told him what he wanted to here so he would leave him alone until he gets done with USA baseball

Kenya Huggins will not be at LSU next year nor will he be at Chipola. He will sign with whoever drafts him. I have a friend that’s a coach at Chipola and rumor is Kenya hates school and will sign for whatever.

With the current transfer rules, I think it’s safe to say anyone going JUCO is there because they want a quick route back to the draft.

Unless it’s their only option out of HS, of course.

Yeah the Braves do love them some Georgia boys, and they are never afraid to reach in the first round to sign a guy well below slot, so that they can be aggressive going after more high upside guys, later.

This is the Paxton Kling blurb from Keith Law's latest draft rankings:

quote:

51. Paxton Kling, OF, Central High (Martinsburg, Pa.)

Scouts have joked that Kling is the most unsignable player in the draft class this year, as he hasn’t met with scouts or returned forms to them at all through this cycle, and thus is widely expected to end up at LSU, where he’ll be draft-eligible again as a sophomore in 2024. He’s a projectable center fielder with plus speed and a plus arm, with loose hands and an easy swing. After adding strength this winter, he looked much better at the plate this spring, answering some of the bigger questions scouts had about his present skillset. He has played well enough this spring that he could go in the late first to early second round if he indicated he was signable, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him go in the top 10 in two years.
